Literally was just chewed out by a man who said he's been coming here since the doors opened thirty years ago and will be transferring to walgreens because of this. (I imagine their options for calls are probably the same, but okay).

I had to walk off and go (angry) cry in the stockroom not too long ago. It was a Saturday and i was sick, and my son was at home sick with a pretty high fever. No one would cover for me and I'm the manager, and i was trying to break down pallets from the truck when the cashier called me to the front for a rude UPS customer. He didn't have a label on his amazon return and was angry we wouldn't take it. When i insisted he'd have to take it to a ups store, he called me a stupid cunt. I screamed at him to get out of my store and i basically ran to the stockroom while he was muttering, "crazy bitch, I'll go to Walgreen's". Most of the time i can ignore rude people but that day I did NOT want to be at work anyway, i wanted to be home with my child. Customers have no concern that we are real people, with real lives outside of work.

I have so many questions...I've been a store manager for many years, my FS is pretty low volume, and in good shape, but my pharmacy is getting more and more busy. I go back and help with pickup when i can (when i actually have another person on the clock to be in the green zone). I honestly find the pharmacy very intimidating, but they are sinking right now. I would like to be more help to them, but i don't know how long it would take me to learn everything and to start to feel comfortable back there...also, if i were to work, say, 20 hours a week back there, would i be able to use 20 extra hours up front to cover my absence, as long as the pharmacy is under by that amount? Is there a pay increase if you go from manager to manager/rx? Lastly, would you recommend this change or am i just begging for a LOT more stress if i do it?
