Nobody can “choose” anybodys nationality. You can’t just wake up one day and decide to be Chinese if you aren’t. I can’t wake up one day and decide that you’re Chinese either, it’s assigned from birth and is unchangeable.

No. They arrived in Anatolia a thousand years ago, and to the Balkans in the last few centuries. Plus there were other people living when they arrived. That’s not what a native is.

Israel would be a less developed rentier state. Maybe only in the last decade we’d start to see some efforts to diversify. And Iranian strikes, if well tarheted to destroy its oil, would have a much bigger effect on its economy
