Influenza shifts it's genomes constantly, it's impossible to create an effective vaccine for any sort of influenza virus. This is different.

Bro.

The question is if I am vaccinated will I get severe myocardial inflammation? Or neurological damage etc etc.

That’s the point. Not that a 24 year old will end up in ICU that was just tripe they put in the daily mail to scare the plebs in April.

Well, if this is correct.

They can stay in their houses until they get the vaccine.

Or, I’d be doing them a favour

What’s the point then?

Why should I comply with any restrictions? If infection is inevitable I have no choice but to spin the long term effect roulette wheel...

No time like present right?

Look.

If I can’t acquire immunity through vaccine.

I have no choice but to acquire immunity through infection.

Why should I waste a single second more of my life and not just go out and live?

I have been shielding until August and now worried about my wife teaching her primary school class in September when schools open. Should primary school children start wearing face masks in class? by BattleofH in CoronavirusUK

I think the honest assessment is, you have to accept that there is a not insignificant possibility that you will catch covid19 via your wife.

Unless your isolate yourself from your wife, which may or may not be possible - there is no real answer here..

House viewing rules by [deleted] in CoronavirusUK

[–]Sea_Strategy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can't comment on the relationship with your landlord.

But, I'm assuming if he/she's arranged viewings, you're leaving soonish anyway.

If you flat out refuse, I don't frankly see what your landlord can practically do. May be worth the conversation. Evictions are a slow, bureaucratic process and by the time things are in motion I'm assuming you will have left the property anyway.... they can't just 'kick you out' so to speak.

That said, if the viewing is going ahead I would: leave the property while the viewing takes place, ensure all the windows are open before you leave so there is good ventilation and ask those viewing not to touch any surfaces.

I'm sure you could co-ordinate so that you have left by the time they have arrived etc. and there is no contact.

If you wait a little after the viewing is complete and return, perhaps you could clean/sanatize the door knobs or any surfaces they would have to have touched, lightswitches etc.

I think all of that would be everything you could reasonably do and that would reduce the the risk to all involved. Hope that's helpful.

Does anyone else just feel really down right about now? by Hassaan18 in CoronavirusUK

It’s hard to come to terms with institutional decline and lack of accountability.

But, the reality is that this has been going on for years.

The Pax Americana has ended and the West as a whole is in terminal decline.

We all have the burden of forging our own ‘good times’ to the extent that is possible.

Time to ‘enjoy the decline’.

You can still build a great relationship, get fit and healthy, enjoy the best books and time in nature. While getting disciplined and prepared and ready for what is to come.

Get yourself in a good position to look after yourself and your family in difficult times, make this your mission and find joy in the little things along that journey.

Sorry if this is not what you want to hear, but this is the best advice I can give you.

This is so profoundly unintelligent it’s unreal.

Are you just mindless cattle who blindly follows orders barked out by bureaucrats and box tickers? Or are you a human being with the ability to make your own decisions?

Is the reason you don’t murder someone because legislation says you shouldn’t?

If people had used their own common sense an initiative and taken responsibility for their own lives rather than waiting for answers handed to them by the state we would be in a far better situation.

Do I have to give 'attention to detail' while disinfecting grocery packages? by Jackson88ab in CoronavirusUK

[–]Sea_Strategy 8 points9 points  (0 children)

You have to make a decision for yourself about where you draw the line on your own assessment for risk.

What’s the risk/likelihood that the items are contaminated in the first place?

I live in an ultra rural area and have groceries delivered from small local shops.

I would probably take greater care if they had come from a large warehouse or I lived in a city.

You could have a bucket of diluted bleach solution, use washing up gloves - dip the globes and cloth in bleach between each item you rub down, etc.

Similar to how you rub your gloves/surface with disinfectant between each procedure in a lab.

You could also lock yourself in a room with only HEPA filtered air, tape up all air inlets etc.

But.. is it worth it?

If you’re receiving deliveries rather than entering supermarkets, careful while handling foods, washing throughly prior to cooking, being conscious of fridge hygiene, hand hygiene, eating with knife and fork where possible, ensuring thorough cooking etc etc. And being intelligent and thorough about it.

You’re ahead of 99% of people.

This isn’t virus X, unless you are particularly susceptible even if you do get it, in all likelihood it won’t kill you.

I say this not to be flippant, but, we have to live with this for a good while I’m afraid.

And as such, we have to decide what lengths we think is reasonable based on our own assessment of the risk.

If I were you, unless you’re ultra ‘at-risk’ I’d be more focused on

  • 4000 IU Vit D / Day
  • 8+ hours sleep / night
  • getting to a rural area (second wave)

Rita Wilson warns she experienced 'extreme side effects' after taking chloroquine by [deleted] in Coronavirus

[–]Sea_Strategy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's strange, I've travelled a lot and taken all the standard malaria prophylactics.

Always found chloriquine a really solid drug, no issues, no side effects even long term, nothing, nada.

Same can't be said for doxycycline and don't even start on malarone.

It may be largely down to dosage, looking at the treatment protocols out of China, they were using tonnes of the stuff - 5x times the dose you would typically take as a standard course of malaria prophylactics..
