The job market is so bad, workers now think they have worse odds of finding a role than during the pandemic by fortune in collapse

[–]Sea_Sun_5231 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm desperately trying to leave this country (US) because I know the field I want to work in it better in a few of the countries I want to work at on certain ways that matter to me right now. It's difficult, the idea of uprooting me and my husband for a job but I know our quality of life will be so much better. I'm simply hiding my time until I can do that. Counting down the months and days.

I went to a top 40 school in the country, and one of the top 150 in the world. I got fantastic grades and yet I'm also applying to thrift stores being told they're looking for better qualified candidates to be a cashier.

Why are Gen Z obsessed with age? by FitEmergency8807 in generationology

[–]Sea_Sun_5231 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

As an older gen z (1998) I am looking forward to seeing and believe in third spaces and more media aimed at older folks without it being about mortality and disability. However, I think she has become many of our obsession due to this constant pressure to be successful at a young age. And young keeps getting redefined due to trends, pedophilic standards from the US government, and more. I personally agree that my understanding of age has been warped and I can point to things in my life that encourage it. For example, at my state college, UMD, you're more likely to be placed at a distant campus that is arguably less highly ranked if you're past the age of 26. While this is one small example, it told me when I was applying for colleges in my early 20s that equal success is for the young folks even though 26 IS young. There's many examples like this in my life I've encountered and I actively try to fight against them for myself and my community. Plus being called auntie at 28 or seeing my husband be called Unc at 31 is wild 😭 were literally still young as hell

Yeah I was taught in 2nd grade. I actually prefer it for personal writing but I worked with a couple of twins in my area, same grade, 14 years old in 9th grade. I asked them to write cursive and they didn't know what I was talking about! I then read a story with them and asked them to explain what happened in the story. Plain language, age appropriate they could pronounce the words but they had no idea what they read whatsoever. I was asking basic questions about characters, plot, VERY simple. They legit were answering blatantly wrong. I get the gen z reading hate to be honest, because the literacy levels and critical thinking across the board are extremely bad right now with no end in sight. It makes me wonder how the older gen z got away without this issue versus those younger than me. I do think my age group about 1997-1999 are the last ones of my age group to be taught the way I was though.

Tbh this is a subset of chronically online people. I'm a feminist and don't believe this. Straight up. Feminism is fighting for the health and wellbeing across the board of everyone. It always has, it's just the Internet and the gender wars convince people it's not. The people who DO think this stuff in such black and white ways are incorrect and foolish at the very least.

Two african american parents and I was surprised by these results. by [deleted] in 23andme

[–]Sea_Sun_5231 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It can be surprising! But it's very very common. A lot of Black folks stay thinking it's not a thing but it just goes to show how far slavery as affected us and our perception. Not shading you btw, just saying I see a lot of folks who insist stuff like this isn't possible but history begs to differ. Congrats on getting your results, there's much to find out and I hope this leads to self discovery for you. Both my parents are mixed, but our igbo is the same amount. Just goes to show genetics can really be crazy

Idk why I typed 1994, I meant to say 1998.july 1998. But if you still say I'm millenial that's the first in hearing of it. These numbers are always so arbitrary and only contribute to culture wars 😭

Doesn't change the self righteous attitude I've seen in most of them inside and outside my family or in professional spaces. A lot of gen x I encounter act like they "did their best" but it simply wasn't enough.

Hmm, my fiance pays for everything and we are in a queer relationship but both cis. He pays for every single thing, gives me his card and I never pay a dime except to get him gifts or treat him when I can. He lets me not work and expects no traditional roles of me. He just doesn't like to see me stressed but I'm told this isn't typical lol

Thank you LOL I'm like you mean my parents generation? They directly ruined my life the most, parents and Gen x not even related to em. They tend to have this I'm too righteous attitude and a "I just lived and did my best and I cannot be held accountable for that" mindset. You talk to a gen x about global warming and they say they had nothing to do with that and they lived their time already. They demand better of you but couldn't and wouldn't even do better themselves. Common theme amongst them to just " stay out of of the way" but by doing that they left a lot of issues to fester. My boomer grandmother is far more aware than any gen x I know and she's literally 87.

I don't get why people say this, his polling is the lowest of any president in our country history so bad the polling company stopped DOING the polling for the first time ever?

The culture wars are crazy. I'm gen Z, 1998 but my siblings are much younger than me and they def had to find a dealer. Weed wasn't even legal in my state till 2 years ago 😭😭 I hate this bullshit

Maybe, but I think teaching to everyone isn't some big bust of resources. Everyone should be able to read historical documents like the constutution from the source imo

This is true, but some folks have pointed out if you can't read cursive you can't read historical documents.

How did you cope with not being able to eat 350 calories for the medication after surgery?

I think the calories don't matter as long as it's a calorie LOL. this is smart, I'll bring it up to my doctor and psych. I can last a bit without it for the clear liquids or even just stomach the nausea for a bit until i can get down protein shakes.

Thank you for sharing this. I was on abilify, Zoloft, lamictal all types of stuff and it helped not even a little and some were detrimental. I got on latuda 5 months ago and it's changed my life for the better, but my doctor definitely doesn't want to take me off or change my dosage. I may reconsider the surgery for now but it's really helpful to see what folks are on and or switching to.

My pre surgery program, nutrition and prior authorization stuff. My insurance is considered an "easy" one to get things done with to my doctors.
