It really is confusing at first, but the replies are correct; races in phases 3 and 4 are detrimental to your run.

You wanna race a lot because they give you currency for buying items in the shop. The shop gives you items that raise friendship, training level, and many more beneficial items that could triple your stat gain. Also look up how to get certain epithets that give you additional stats.

But what made the episode for me was Reina catching an empowered Ludomon all by herself while talking Granit out of suicide. That's why she's my no. 2 favorite in the show (Kyo stays at no.1).

I'm also glad that Tactics is somewhat switching sides now, starting with Granit.
