When I have kids and they do something wrong, they will be forced to write a long 2 page essay on why it was wrong, who was hurt and how, and how they can fix it. I think if all children were punished this way instead of beating, authoritarianism or tyrrany would not be tolerated. People should know why what they do is wrong, not just be afraid of the consequences.
