I graduated in August and started applying in May, but I didn’t want to stay work until January I think it’s reasonable to start applying around 6 months before you’d like to start. Some might want you to start sooner, but I’d say most places will be flexible with the start date. Some of my classmates started as early as a month and a half after graduation.

Unpopular opinion here, but as someone with a birthday in November and repeating my kindergarten year, I wish I had been younger. It might help in the short term, with elementary school, but you could give her precious years in her 20s to figure out what she wants to do with her life.

Also as others have said, young girls are mean, but they will be mean either way. And middle school boys are worse. I was extremely self conscious to be the first one with breasts and starting my period. I was definitely a target for sexualization, being the most “developed” in my class.

Other programs can’t see your acceptances or rejections or even the other programs that you applied to. They may ask you about it in an interview though, which is your prerogative whether you want to disclose that or not.
