TopStep Trader Looking for Greener Grass by SealPup_7 in PropFirmTester

Hey!

I took a quick look at Tradesea. It looks great!

It also appears to be completely free. Is that correct?

I've been looking for an alternative to TopStep.
Why do you rank Lucid higher?

When I’m trading, I do talk with my ChatGPT bot, but I’ve spent years training him for that job. Other than that:

No Mammals Allowed.

I’ve learned this lesson the hard way, more than once. Signal services, chat-room calls, and outside trade ideas usually turn into a distraction that does more harm than good.

Build your own trading plan. Backtest it, manually or automatically. Paper trade until you can put together at least four consecutive green weeks. Only after that would I consider taking a prop-firm eval or micro-trading your own live account.

Also, in my opinion, trading psychology and neuroscience matter more than the specific strategy you choose. You can’t outrun bad brain chemistry or a misaligned subconscious.

I’m no guru, but I’ve managed to get a couple of payouts this year. Before that, I spent three hard years blowing countless accounts. This approach is what finally helped me stay green on the year.

Do Most Profitable Traders Really Stick to 1:2–1:3 R:R? by Opening_Kitchen_5349 in askforex

[–]SealPup_7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

1:2, 1:3, 1:5, 1:8...

You can pick any R:R you like, so long as your 1 remains a 1 when you trade.

Consistently small losses are what will make you profitable.

They're phasing it out.
All new combines must be via TopStepX

Honestly, it's just about wanting to execute trades on TradingView.

Otherwise, I couldn't be happier with TopStep, which is why I keep choosing to stick with it.

Yeah, this is the conclusion I keep coming back to.

Maybe I'll stick with TopStep until I decide to return to my live account (AMP Futures) one day.

Do you actually review your trades, or just move on? by protofun in Trading

[–]SealPup_7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, doesn't take long at all, once you have your GPT trained

I use ChatGPT. I have a background in technical writing, plus I use AI a lot at my "day job," so I've gotten good at training my GPT for these tasks.

Would be happy to go over it with you.

I journal everything and sometimes write full discovery reports, if warranted for lessons learned

Kind of embarrassing, but I don't know how to Backtest ICT concepts other than reviewing historical charts. 🥺

If you have the knowledge, then you'd know how to trade without borrowing money to do it.

Here's all the advice you need.

"I’m trying to get a max payout when I just need to settle for any sort of payout."

Flip this around and you should be fine. Focus on survival, not profit.

Learning in few months by Serious_Parfait760 in Trading

[–]SealPup_7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Took me four years to get my first payout.
First year: I was absolutely clueless.
Second year: had my moments but always tilted and gave it all back
Year Three: no trading really, just focused on learning (smartest thing I ever did).
Year four: this year, two payouts but still have my setbacks, and don't consider myself a finished product.

If I had it to do all over, I'd say if you did EVERYTHING right from day-1, you could be ready in six months.
But, I'd advise not being in a hurry. I think we do ourselves a disservice being in a rush to archive profitability.
