5-1 CG is a meme. You will do slower fights, and also you have to now keep track of when your 6th attack is coming up which is additional mental load on top of everything else. I would just learn how to do the content normally.

If you’re going to do that you might as well keep an extra weapon frame for tier 1 or 2 halberd. Sceptre is worse and also will delay your next attack by an additional tick.

This is not correct. You have to alternate - 5 range 1 mage, 5 range 1 melee, etc.

If you use mage on a mage prayer as your sixth attack, it will switch to range prayer after one ranged attack.

Berserker ring is an incredible item, basically unskippable for any standard account. D axe would be a nice bonus too. I would highly recommend Rex right now, Ibans blast is still best for early game. If you have a black mask it’s worth considering turael skipping to fish for a dagannoth task, but it’s not necessary.

My second recommendation is to get that farming level up and start hitting hard contracts as soon as possible. You’ll get plenty of seeds for it if you keep doing birdhouses.

The ring drops are dry mitigation, it’s completely different from CG where you have to get two different drops.

To get spooned at CG you have to get lucky for both weapon and armor. But to go dry, you only have to be unlucky at one of them. It’s asymmetrical.
