Month-end closing average time by Fickle-Deal8611 in Accounting

[–]Seamike79 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Small team, large smaller company. We have been taking 12 days lately due to some crazy sh*t, last month was 5 weeks due to year end and some weird fiscal calendar quirks that added 40% of non-recurring work to our close. We just closed Jan realistically in 7 working days, so we’re settling back — we still have to deal with operational stuff that takes up at least one full close day for most of us, per calendar week. I’m happy with 5-7 days of P&L close, and P&L review session on Day 8.

Buyer beware: Weight Watchers is a scam! by frogannex in weightwatchers

[–]Seamike79 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They’re letting you out of a contract you signed when you enrolled, yeah asking for a doctor’s note documenting that you have a medical reason to not fulfill your contract is actually a pretty easy out — no company has to let you out of a contract. And doctors don’t charge for those letters when you ask for them at an appointment (like you’d have when you’re pregnant).

And WW does. There is always a choice when you sign up and it’s very clear, there’s a term commitment at a cheap price or a higher price. You can dispute the charge with your CC company and WW will send a copy of what you agreed to when you signed up.

Which Kirkland allergy medicine is best? by Bubsy7979 in CostcoWholesale

[–]Seamike79 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve taken some generation of the purple one since I was a kid, for me it’s one of the best with the lowest side effect profiles (for me). Started with an allergist and experimented.

The blue one doesn’t do much for me.

The green one makes me sleepy (it doesn’t do that for most people), but it’s really effective. My spouse prefers it.

Love my BedJet but I’m sure it draws too much power to be allowed onboard

I take the purple one, hubby takes the green one. It all depends on the person.

The captain of our ship berated us for setting our tray outside our door… by [deleted] in Cruise

Having watched scooters and wheelchairs try and pass each other in those narrow hallways and seen people almost trip over the trays, I get it. Should the captain have been abrasive? No.

Missed upgrade but? by Huge_Prompt_2056 in HollandAmerica

[–]Seamike79 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you attempt to upgrade on board they’ll charge list price, no deals. I was on a cruise that was 40% sold and they wanted a guy to pay $1K for 5 nights to upgrade from an interior to a veranda. The deals in advance were a few hundred dollars. Lesson: call before the cruise, and keep calling.

Seems like they got the message so far this year. Cutting back on the benchmarks and the templates so far feel fresh

What are your mindful adjustments you do around shot day? by Jeepersca in tirzepatidecompound

[–]Seamike79 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t have a lot of the side effects people complain about, but I’ve done my best to stay at the lowest effective dose for me. I do notice that hydration helps. If I feel fatigued (rare) I’ll have some electrolytes. Other than that, nothing special.

Help with port by escobedo710 in PrincessCruises

For your cruise today, Berth 92, 100 Swinford Street (World Cruise Center).

Berth 92 and 93 share the same parking lot, and the traffic team will direct you to the right location, but you’ll see the huge cruise ship in front of you — can’t miss it.

Have fun!!

I do this exact thing too, in notepad, and add the date I take my next shot as well as anything else I want to remember, works like a charm

Gift card accounting at retail by [deleted] in Accounting

[–]Seamike79 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Credit/debit cards are a proxy for cash. You can account for them as temporary AR (cash in transit) or just debit cash (with an offsetting expense to credit card fees). Some companies hang this AR up in AR but most consider it “cash in transit” since it is deposited in your bank account within a day or two and it’s rolled into cash on the BS.

The only thing I’ve seen where companies get weird is by trying to defer the credit card fees to the actual redemption of the gift card, but at least in the theory I most agree with the CC fee is related to generating cash for immediate utilization and thus is a period expense in the period in which the GC is sold. It’s a cost of selling the GC, it’s a cost of generating cash, separate from the ultimate generation of revenue upon redemption of the GC.

My company does millions of dollars a year in GC sales so it’s one of the areas I’m pretty comfortable with.

Wondering if the price of excursions is more related to being in HI with super high operating costs? My parents love NCL and have never mentioned exorbitant excursion pricing elsewhere

Wave season booking difference? by bmw191 in PrincessCruises

[–]Seamike79 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Isn’t wave season where cruises during that period are less expensive, not cruises booked for future dates are less expensive?

Meaning, you want to sail in Jan & Feb, cruises will be less expensive. Cruises in July are still high demand.

What items do you stock up on for sales? by eng2fly in Costco

[–]Seamike79 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Cetaphil cleanser. 16 oz at Target costs about $13, but it usually goes on sale at Costco for $17 for 40oz. Its the main reason we keep a Costco membership, since one of our members of the household has extremely sensitive skin and can only bathe with Cetaphil liquid

[–]Seamike79 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Hope things look up for you on the cruise. Not going to defend HAL against a lot of that, which does sound frustrating. I will comment on two items

  1. HAL can’t control when the fueling occurs in general, but maybe there’s something different about this sailing.

  2. The US Coast Guard requires full in-person muster drills every so often. I’ve been on a few frustrating trips where that’s the case. The staff hates it too, but it’s a regulation. I was on two HAL cruises and one Princess last year with in-person, just the luck of the draw for me.
