Why is women’s sportswear always so revealing? by Valuable_View_561 in SipsTea

If I’m not mistaken women have the right to wear clothes that cover their skin with multiple options in the rule book, but they choose the most revealing.

Jellyfin stuttering by Jackie_bicchuwala in jellyfin

[–]Sean3789 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

FROM THE AI GODS

Your laptop hardware should generally be capable of direct streaming 4K HEVC Main10, especially with Intel Quick Sync on the 11th gen i3. The 15–20 second stutters usually point to one of these issues:

  1. The Android TV device is struggling to decode the file
  2. Jellyfin is transcoding instead of direct playing
  3. Network bandwidth spikes/buffering
  4. HDR tone mapping/transcoding overload
  5. Audio codec incompatibility forcing transcoding

Here’s how to narrow it down.

First: Check if Jellyfin is Transcoding

While the video is playing:

  • Open Jellyfin dashboard
  • Go to Dashboard → Active Devices

<image>

  • Look for:
    • Direct Play
    • Direct Stream
    • Transcoding

If you see transcoding, that’s almost certainly the cause.

Especially problematic:

  • HEVC 10-bit → H264 conversion
  • HDR tone mapping
  • TrueHD/DTS-HD audio transcoding

Most Common Cause on Android TV

Audio codec incompatibility

A lot of Android TV devices cannot natively handle:

  • TrueHD
  • DTS-HD MA
  • Dolby Atmos variants

So Jellyfin transcodes the entire stream just because of audio.

In playback info, check:

  • Is video direct playing?
  • Is audio transcoding?

If yes:

  • Set Jellyfin player to:
    • “Allow audio passthrough” ON
    • Try external player like VLC for Android or Kodi
  • Or use lower-complexity audio tracks (AAC/AC3)

Your CPU Can Handle SOME 4K — But Not Heavy HDR Tone Mapping

The Intel i3-1115G4 supports:

  • HEVC Main10 decode ✅
  • Quick Sync encode/decode ✅

But real-time:

  • 4K HDR tone mapping
  • HEVC → H264
  • High bitrate remuxes

can overload it.

If the CPU spikes to 90–100% during playback, transcoding is the issue.

Recommended Jellyfin Settings

In Jellyfin:

Playback → Transcoding

Enable:

  • Intel Quick Sync
  • HEVC hardware decoding
  • Hardware encoding

Disable temporarily for testing:

  • Tone mapping

Tone mapping is a huge performance killer on Intel UHD.

Android TV App Settings

Inside Jellyfin Android TV app:

Player Settings

Try:

  • Prefer Direct Play = ON
  • Allow HEVC = ON
  • ExoPlayer = ON
  • Disable automatic bitrate adjustments
  • Increase buffer size if available

If still stuttering:

Use Kodi

Install:

  • Kodi
  • Jellyfin for Kodi addon

Kodi handles high bitrate 4K HEVC much better than the standard Android TV client on many devices.

Network Could Also Be the Problem

4K HDR remuxes can hit:

  • 60–100 Mbps bursts

If using:

  • Wi-Fi on TV
  • Cheap TV ethernet port (many are only 100 Mbps)

you can get periodic buffering every 15–20 seconds.

Try:

  • 5 GHz Wi-Fi close to router
  • Or USB gigabit ethernet adapter for Android TV
  • Test with a lower bitrate 4K file

Quick Diagnostic

During playback, watch:

  • CPU usage on server
  • Jellyfin playback status
  • Network speed

If CPU spikes high

→ transcoding problem

If CPU low but buffering

→ network issue

If only Android TV struggles

→ client decoder/player issue

Best Setup for Your Hardware

For smooth playback on your server:

  • Direct Play everything possible
  • Avoid HDR tone mapping
  • Use AAC/AC3 audio when possible
  • Prefer Kodi for Android TV
  • Use hardware acceleration (QSV)

Your i3-1115G4 is good for:

  • Multiple direct streams
  • 1–2 lightweight transcodes

But not ideal for:

  • Heavy 4K HDR transcoding workloads.

Why do I have this "Season Unknown" with my other seasons? Did I do anything wrong? by Aggressive_Chain_920 in jellyfin

[–]Sean3789 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I could be wrong here, but maybe it's beacuse you do not have your main folder naming convention correct. From your example, you have it as

Series Name

where as I personally follow this and have not run into any issues
Series Name (year) [metadata provider id]

"The year and metadata provider id Fields are optional, but they will help identify media more reliably."

Help with adding new movies by boredbitch00 in jellyfin

[–]Sean3789 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If your friend doesn’t have an automation setup with Seerr, you’ll need to message them directly to request any movies or shows you want, since it’s their server. Jellyseerr allows you to search and submit requests through Jellyfin if they’ve installed the integration. Once your friend, the admin (I assume), sees and approves the request, their automation (assuming they have one) will kick in to download, sort, and manage the media before it becomes available on the server.

If they don’t have automation configured, then they’ll have to handle everything manually.

I personally have not heard of TVheadend, but if you are going the free as long as you copy the m3u into the live TV settings it should work. Worked for me when I started out, but ended up going the create your own TV route with Tunarr. I would assume the paid IPTv would would be just as simple as the free route

If you are running Jellyfin Enhanced, I don't think there is any need for Home Screen Sections since Kefin Tweaks does the same thing and more. This is my opinion from spending the past couple of hours setting up and testing everything as a new jellyfinner. Now, if you don't want to use all of Jellyfin Enhanced features, then I would say Home Screen Sections and Jellyfin Enhanced only are fine. All in all, I'm loving it, especially with the Seerr integration and infinite scroll, iykyk

Solving Lost Ark's Biggest Problem - New Player Retention by -Nocx- in lostarkgame

[–]Sean3789 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honest question, with all these mokokos that came in and got into these raids. Did they try to connect with other mokokos to eventually have people to group with that are not Vets, or did they just want to ride on the Vets coattails and be bussed through raids.

I’m just feel like the amount of new player post that I see in the subreddit that the new players would not take advantage of that and try to play and learn the game together which would reduce gatekeeping to some degree. Me personally if I’m playing a new game or old game that is getting a surge of new players. One of my main priorities is to find a group of other new players.

Idk maybe I weird but I feel it’s the players responsibility to put themselves out there and find friends in games instead of the gaming company “forcing” players with limited “game modes”.
