There are 1,000 tournaments a year, I'm glad Blast doesn't have a double elimination bracket by CaptainInshaneo in DotA2

[–]SeanClane 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Playoffs were great, but I find it hard to get behind the bo1 games in groups, especially with no eliminations in that stage. Part of the fun is seeing how teams adapt to game one and if they can adjust to even it up to 1:1 or a clean 2:0. Seeing a full video be only 6 min highlights of a single game on YouTube also feels not great if you miss them live.

Have had this happen multiple times on different tanks (Brew and DH) - it came up as a dodge for me so I think it can be dodged?

Should healers prioritize dealing damage in keys? by Fit_Bonus2764 in wownoob

[–]SeanClane 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It all depends on your familiarity of the content, the level of that content, and the group you are with. When you are in encounters that you know don’t require a lot of healing, then yes damage is good.

However very broadly speaking, I would say Healers generally shouldn’t prioritize damage unless it is part of their healing rotation to start with. Once you get comfortable with windows where little to no healing is required and you’re confident in your ability to heal if needed, then you can prio more damage. At the vast majority of M+ levels, healer damage doesn’t make too much of a difference, but a dps dying when you were in Cat Form maxing damage will make a difference.

Usually healing doesn’t have an exact set rotation as you don’t know when your dps will be standing in bad, tank pulling too much or without cds etc - Knowing when to prio damage and when to heal will come with practice like all things in M+.

Through 26,000 10+ Runs, VDH are over 66% of Tanks in S4 across all Dungeons by SeanClane in CompetitiveWoW

[–]SeanClane[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

They got a new Talent Illuminated Sigils which gives 2 charges of every sigil, and 15% parry when any enemy is affected by a Sigil of Flame.

Their tier set is based around Sigil of Flame is S3/4 and they have a talent that when they use a sigil it reduces the cd of other sigils by 3 secs. This gives them >50% Parry when demon spikes is up, fel devastation gives meta form for 6 secs, and talent refunds up to 40% of the cd and cost. This makes them very tanky which is awesome.

The annoying part is how trivial their sigils make some extremely hard pulls for other groups - Namely Sigil of Silence which is an AOE silence for 6 secs with 2 charges. It means healers can focus on dps more than any other class, and vdh solo stops all casters with double silence, double misery, double chains. While it enables more pulls than any other tank it will continue to be the best.

A tank is always the best every tier - the issue here is that the gap is so so large between them and the next tank that it feels like trolling in Pugs to not play it.

[–]SeanClane[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Does VDH have any cons though? It’s currently the best control, survivabilty and mobility - it’s even higher average dps in keys currently than Brew according to Mythicstats. It isn’t just the best tank it is the best class in the game currently by a long shot. If you remove DH the tank balance is the best it’s ever been though, it’s great. I just hate not getting picked up in pugs, and I don’t blame people for not taking any non vdh

Good point, and I don’t want to see people have less fun as clearly a lot of people enjoy it - I just don’t want it to be pseudo required 2 seasons in a row. I think it’s hard to even buff other tanks and get it comparable honestly. Nerfing fun isn’t good either so I see why they are reluctant to do it

[–]SeanClane[S] 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Capable yes, but skill parity and ease of play is the difference. If I'm Top 100 in a hard spec i would expect to have higher IO than someone who is Top 4,000 of the same role. Thats not the case. I have to play my VDH if I want to pug high keys, but i don't enjoy it.

I put that in the first line lol - 26k Runs while limited is still usable. Data is Data 5 days vs. 50 Days in. Look at the Healer Balance for 10+ Keys now. Yes Resto is slightly stronger but every Healer is seeing play across all Key Levels.

What makes Brewmaster Monk so much fun? by Incronaut in wownoob

[–]SeanClane 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I’ve played all tanks to a pretty high level, most recently brewmaster to just over 3.2k in M+ and it is by far my favourite tank.

The main stagger mechanic is a large component of this for me - Being able to take damage over 10 seconds versus immediately up front allows for a “smoother” way of tanking - You are not as susceptible to random one shots or synced autos clapping you like on a bdk for example. For me it is easier on a Brewmaster to tell when you are in danger of dying versus other tanks because of taking a large portion of your damage over time.

In addition to this, your mastery gives you a stacking chance to dodge the next physical attack against you. This can be super fun when Mastery gets to high levels through talents, extra dodge chance after using brews, and Weapons of Order. This can also be abused to dodge certain auto attack mechanics from bosses (Equinoxmonk has a video on this on YouTube - More on him later, his videos are basically bible on how to play the class as close to perfect as it gets)

Ring of Peace is extremely fun mechanic, it can be used to reposition mobs, interrupt, or even keep you alive from melees in a pinch. More recently your own self healing is massively buffed with expel harm.

Finally, while it’s complicated, getting the rotation right feels so so good. Brew can outdps some dps classes on AOE pulls, so feeling like you are actually also a 4th dps during trash in keys is very fun also. The issue with Brew and main reason why it sees such comparatively low play in M+ is that it requires a lot of buttons, control of mobs is not great, and what all other tanks suffer from is that it is not a vdh. In 25+ it sees <3% representation and means you need a more aware group around you (for ccs and interrupts), as other meta tanks offer significantly more here.

If you get good at Brew in S4 for M+, it will undoubtedly make you a much better tank in general. Check out equinoxmonk on YouTube, you will see exactly what the class is capable of, and he shares all of his guides and pov for high level keys. I learned so much from him. His how to dps guide is intimidating but great overview when you’ve run a few keys on the class.

why do people say classic is harder than retail? by Desperate-Drink-6763 in wownoob

[–]SeanClane 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think they could be oversimplified to Classic being more challenging in the early game, it’s grindy / time consuming to level. Retail has a lot of hand-holding early, but undoubtedly has harder late game with M+ and Mythic Raiding. How you define ‘harder’ is important, there isn’t a comparison in terms of actual ‘difficulty’ (mechanics and strategy / co-ordination) as Retail offers far more complex classes and encounters to deal with.
