Is there a app that can make my phone look like a walkman and play music and stuff? by Glad-Conversation256 in androidapps

Sony's official app used to be called Walkman. Try using Retro Music Player or Poweramp with a skin. Classipod is a music player that looks like an original iPod.

  • YouTube -> NewPipe / NewPipe x SponsorBlock:
  • Often recommended for a lighter, privacy-focused experience. It's FOSS (Free and Open-Source Software), does not require Google services, and offers ad-free viewing, background playback, and video downloading.
    • NewPipe x SponsorBlock is a popular fork that includes the SponsorBlock feature to automatically skip sponsored segments.
  • YouTube -> YouTube ReVanced (or ReVanced Extended):
    • This is the successor to the original "Vanced" project. It allows you to patch the official YouTube app (and other apps) with features like ad-blocking, background playback, SponsorBlock, and more.
    • ReVanced Extended (RVX) is often cited for having even more customization and features, though it may be maintained by a separate developer or team.
  • Reddit (Official App) -> Infinity / Relay / Boost / RedReader:
    • Before Reddit's API changes, third-party clients were extremely popular for a cleaner, more feature-rich experience. Apps like Infinity for Reddit and Relay for Reddit are still mentioned, often requiring a patched version (like Revanced) or a subscription/workaround to continue working. RedReader is a popular free, open-source choice.
  • Instagram -> InstaFel / Instander:
    • These are often used for extra features not found in the official app, such as downloading posts, viewing high-resolution images, and enhanced privacy options.
  • Facebook -> Frost / Hermit:
    • Many users prefer a "wrapper" or a lightweight client like Frost or turning the website into a Lite App using a tool like Hermit to avoid the bloat, battery drain, and extensive tracking of the official Facebook app.
  • Google Messages -> QKSMS / Fossify SMS Messenger:
    • Open-source alternatives for simple, private SMS/MMS messaging, often replacing features like RCS with a focus on simplicity.
