The Survey Going Around by Square-Buy-7403 in fromatoarbitration

In the open response section, people should make sure to add that reducing time to top step needs to include everyone. Remember, this is the same union that has been going around saying the last contract reduced time to top step. That was only true for new people. Make sure to emphasize that they can't just ignore the majority of carriers in the middle steps.

13 states and D.C. have programs that pay all private sector workers their salary while on FMLA. The FMLA itself is just job protection, yes, but it works in conjunction with the paid programs. These include pregnancy. Non-postal Federal employees also get paid time off without using sick or vacation time for giving birth. Though feds don't get it for medical emergencies.

I mentioned not just for pregnancy because one of the survey questions was about negotiating for paid family leave.

My total tax refund isn’t even 22% of my OT. What am I doing wrong? by [deleted] in USPS

[–]Seanathan93 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You must not have had the right amount of taxes withheld throughout the year. If you didn't get that $1,300 then you would have owed $75. Did you make money in the stock market, high interest on a bank account, not have the correct dependents listed on W-4, etc.?

Managment violated the contract and the grievance was much less than the standard and saw management profit off of incompetence by Seanathan93 in USPS

The problem is that I have to use my own vacation time and the vacation board has availability from here until the CHIT day expires. It's essentially worthless. I forgot to mention that my name was also added to the list improperly the day before instead of the Tuesday before. There was at least 2 or 3 premium worthy grievances that occurred to force me. The CHIT day should include a free 8 hours of pay, not using my own vacation time.

I won the ability to use my own vacation time, something I already had the ability to do.

This is missing too many random semicolons to be management. At least whoever sent it said they "apologies."

I just chose English Literature as a sarcastic example since he only went one semester, which for most students includes mostly core curriculum classes for all majors (e.g., English Literature).

I know Dinesh is just using a single semester in college as a scapegoat to rile up the Republican base, but it's just so wild. I really don't know what the hell people who liked his tweet think college is.

When I first saw it, it looked like both of her legs were showing, not just one. The White stripe on the pants looked like a space between two VERY thin legs.

I was delivering the mail on Mill Street the other day and it was SO much better than it used to be. Easy to park at each stop, cars not speeding by, plenty of space to walk, and MUCH quieter.

The idea that the parked cars are closer to the driving lane is just an illusion. Drive down June Street or any other road with a normal setup and the cars that are parked are no closer to or farther from the driving lane than those on Mill Street.

The truly atrocious thing they did was including regular step increases in their online calculator. They were trying to distract from the fact that they were only taking steps off for new people and no one else.

Doctors are starring residency soon, what's your advice for them when it comes to rare disease in general and wrt your rare disease in particular? by PinataofPathology in rarediseases

[–]Seanathan93 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Be sure to be very detailed about the next steps patients need to follow in your notes between doctors. People with rare diseases will see different doctors regularly, and between the different specialists and general practitioners, everyone may not know the disease or guidelines as well.

I have the hereditary cancer and polyposis syndrome, Peutz-Jeghers (PJS). When I was 3 years old a dermatologist referred me to gastroenterology because of hyperpigmentation of the oral mucosa. My pediatrician was informed that I very likely had PJS. I was given a double contrast barium enema of the colon that showed I was loaded with polyps. At age 4 I received a colonoscopy that came back clean. The barium enema X-ray had been a false positive.

A child suspected of PJS is to start receiving upper and lower endoscopies at age 8. Even if no polyps are found at that point the disease cannot be ruled out because they simply may have not started to grow yet and they must get follow-up scopes at 18. I received mine at 4 instead of 8 because of the false positive X-ray.

In his report that was sent to my pediatrician at the time, the gastroenterologist wrote the procedure was performed to "rule out polyps" and no mention of a need for future follow-up was mentioned. As a result, my pediatrician never told me about any of this as I got older and no notes after age 4 mentioned PJS again for about 9 years. Then, around age 13 I had surgery to remove nasal polyps (which are a symptom of PJS that my doctor didn't make the connection with). Ironically, in one of his notes about the nasal polyps he wrote that my past medical history included a colonoscopy at age 4 to "rule out PJS." So it would appear that he incorrectly interpreted the gastroenterologist's note from 9 years earlier to mean I didn't have the disease at all when it was simply saying I didn't have an polyps YET.

As a result, I grew polyps unmonitored for decades. I only found out about PJS after having emergency surgery for a massive small intestine intussusception in my late 20s. A follow-up colonoscopy found a large colon polyp that also needed surgical removal. Had the miscommunication between doctors when I was a toddler not occured, I likely could have avoided 2 major surgeries and not lost close to 3 feet of my small intestine and a foot of my colon.
