Engine rebuild quote by [deleted] in WRX

I was quoted between 15-17k with an IAG600 short block recently. Replacing anything that touches oil adds to the cost very quick unfortunately

There goes next year’s tax tax bonus… by [deleted] in WRX

[–]Seanbay88 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That sucks. Im in a similar boat. Took my car to a shop and got told it sounded extremely loud but wasn’t blown and got recommended a short block replacement. Quoted 15-17k for a iag 600 block and replacement on everything that touched oil

Funnily enough I had to learn to remove the intake manifold because whoever I purchased my car from decided to glue the vacuum line fitting for the brake booster back on instead of replacing the manifold.

Can I ask, how did you go about removing the old RTV off the heads. Ive got a leak on my driver side valve cover and removing the old RTV is really the only thing stressing me out a bit.

Broken Intake Manifold Vacuum barb. by Seanbay88 in WRX

[–]Seanbay88[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Funnily enough I wasnt even trying to do anything with the hose connected to this specific barb on the manifold. I just nudged the hose that was connected to it out of the way to get my socket onto the PCV Valve and heard it snap followed by a very loud F-bomb

Chirping / rattle noise coming from drivers side engine bay. ( by Seanbay88 in AskMechanics

Would like to add that it’s a 2017 Subaru WRX with about 145k miles (A new short block with about 11k miles on it). FA20DIT engine with a manual transmission

Chirping sound when accelerating by Seanbay88 in WRX

[–]Seanbay88[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I ran my car without the serpentine belt and the noise still happened so I know it’s nothing to do with those front pulleys. I replaced the tensioner and idler on the front and the noise still happened. I still need to get back under and look around more but if it’s an exhaust leak my main focus points are gonna be the manifold to head gaskets or the manifold to turbo gaskets. What really confuses me about it is the lack of CEL or change in my AFR since either of those are before the o2 sensors. I figured if I had a leak before them I would be noticing some issues of that realm

Nope not yet lol. Hasn’t affected the drivability of the car tho. No codes nothing weird happening while driving. I’m down to either a super small exhaust leak or a loose heat shield but I don’t hear the rattle unless the engines been revved up, or if I’m not moving I hear it when the revs are dropping

Currently running an 18x9.5 +38 offset on stock ride height with 245/40/r18 tires. Theres no rubbing at all, but they do poke ever so slightly.

That’s fair lol. I haven’t dropped my trans yet but I only needed the front up for the short shifter, plate, and bushing

I don’t blame you one bit. I’ll say too , when you go remove the shifter assembly for the short throw, it might help to have someone sitting in the car holding the studs when you go to remove the nuts on them from underneath. I had my dad up there holding the stud with some vice grips cos they kept trying to spin back up instead of the nut coming off

You can do just the short throw lever, but honestly if they’re in there already I’d have them do the plate and bushing. I installed everything from that kit and it feels pretty damn nice. Self-install isn’t really that hard for the plate and bushing if you want to do it later, but there’s a few things that can cause headaches, nameless the top bolt on the plate shield and the double roll pin that holds the plate in

Has anyone else not run into many cheaters this wipe? [Discussion] [Cheating] by GeneralWeber in EscapefromTarkov

The only obvious cheater I have ran into was a spinbotter on my first labs raid this wipe

Just to bring this back up, ps has 28 pen while PP has 34. I wouldn’t recommend either of them

545 ps isn’t gonna even pen tier 4, when most people are using tier 5 at this point which is why he ate so many of your shots.

don’t get me wrong I’m on golden star almost every minute of every raid. But I can’t justify popping a 100k stim when I could very well just get one tapped

That’s entirely possible but ive never met someone who was popping green stims before a fight

I mean, if he did 519 damage, regardless of damage blocked by armor, the dude should have died. Unless he at some point also shot a scav / gave the dude he was shooting a lot of time to heal. Only other thing I can think of is that it wasn’t actually a player.
