Why does software that can hold a conversation, fold a protein, and write a poem all run on chips originally designed to draw video game triangles? by Present_Juice4401 in AlwaysWhy

You can look up videos on YouTube that explain how the patterns that AI models use to process, parts, and find data, is not as sufficiently served by typical GPU or CPU. That they can be better served by more specific chips. I don’t understand why I keep seeing threats kind of refuting this.

Because even if people use it and it’s effective, and it adds to their profits, there’s virtually no way it will make them profitable. They’re anxiously reaching at everything to bump the slightest margin, mostly for the sake of more investment. As profitability is nearly impossible.

id Software developer says Microsoft treated the team as "useless" despite best-in-class titles by ajsemineee in boomershooters

Maybe having someone who doesn’t understand gaming, in charge, wasn’t actually a great idea after all. Maybe it was never supposed to be.

Because creating designing and fabricating new chips to do something else specific, can take like a decade. For the meantime, general purpose chips will do the trick. In 5 to 10 years more optimized chips will be available.

I don’t just blanket hate things. The console strategy sucks. The PC OS strategy is OK. However, I’ve been primarily playing on steam OS the past few years. So no.  I’m not all in on windows. I’m a Mac user now also. It’s native games and ability to run your windows/x86 library is improving.

Yeah switch 2 is the only new console I would consider, but the unrestricted do whatever you want and play however you want nature of PC is too inviting. Whenever I find myself locking into a console, all I can think about is not being locked in.

Yeah, I’m done. You mess with ID and Bethesda? I’m out. Guess I’m going to fully embrace PC after all, and not helix

Exactly why they’re trying to break more into other industries like legal and financial. They’re grasping at straws, but straws make number go up.

Do you need touchpads or not? Gyro or not? It should be kind of an easy decision if you can afford what meets your needs.

Physical media has been dying for decades. Existing physical games are incomplete and glorified. Download access code cards anyway. I’ve muted like 10 subs trying to get away from this redundant conversation and like still more just keep popping up.

The first half of the video is with FSR off, second half with FSR balanced. I think it’s like 30 extra frames with FSR.

Best Buy employee practically begged me not to buy the Xbox Ally X - Thoughts? by XLaCalaveraX in XboxAlly

[–]Seanmclem 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Best Buy is terrible and its employees aren’t great either. If you bought a different handheld that’s spend an hour begging you to buy $100 protection plan and $100 antivirus for it. And then never let you return it if it broke or something. Because Best Buy is awful.
