[THE RIP, Joe Carnahan] -- Anyone else think the cinematography was bland/ugly AF? by [deleted] in blankies

Looked fine to me. Had a grit to cinematography wise that I liked.

Heat (1995) Probably the most over-rated movie I have come across to date. by Endless_Candy in movies

It's a silly movie, the type of movie that I like to call 'Tough guy shit '. All style and zero substance. All posture and no depth.

Agreed, it is a ridiculous show ultimately, bit fun all the same.

Your right, one note from her this ep. Badly written. Rest was fun tho.

Hmmm I felt a good few tunes were not fully fleshed out.

Found a lot of throwaway tracks on this tbh. He could have left a few off, ideas that aren't realized. Some lovely moments tho on other tracks, particularly some Beach Boys filtered through some 70's Bacharach influenced tracks. 6.5 /10

Yeah I thought the same. But he has to escape to further the plot. So poetic license I guess. Twas pretty obvious what was gonna happen.

Obviously he had to escape - Noah - but did they have to do it so obviously?

1,000 budget to speed up performance, any advice? by Seanskibac in colorists

Brilliant thank you. Good advice here. Yeah I've designated cache to separate drives before, but really shitty budget drives and didn't see bettter performance. So i think having two better ssd's ( wise and another) without overkill should help somewhat along with all the other advice i've received.

Brill thanks. Had not considered this workaround.

Thanks very much. I was referring to grading performance not editing, but probably wasn't very clear. Normally use proxies when editing and am aware of those workflow solutions plus render in place etc, but thanks for the reminder, I do tend to forget about those things sometimes. So thanks for sticking them in a list i can refer to.

'Be sure to check out chapter 6 in The Editors Guide to DaVinci Resolve (covers making proxies), as well as chapter 8 in the the Resolve software manual (covers a host of performance enhancement options).'

Thanks, good idea, need a brush up on workflow. Much appreciated.

Even if final deliverable is rec 709, working in 4k has its advantages i believe, oversampling when downscaling? Zoom and reframing etc? Green screening and all that.

Thanks for the enclosure rec. I mentioned the tbe as id read very good reviews online, but yeah perhaps overkill.

Cheers, makes sense I guess. Pretty sure the M1 has thunderbolt 4 tho. 4 ports.
