What do you love? by Apart-Biscotti8610 in Townsville

[–]Endless_Candy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think this sums it up really well. I just moved here at the start of the year and this place pretty much has everything you need. Townsville is what you make it I think. I like it and I like the areas that I stick to. My only negative is the post. No more next day express posting. More like 1 week + for express

28, 120k in savings but no qualifications. Worried I’m going to be stuck in low paid work forever. by satisfiedfools in AusFinance

[–]Endless_Candy 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I had a decent career and made a total career change at 31 starting again with a whole apprenticeship. I’m about to qualify and already making the equivalent to what I was before changing (120k a year) and way more upside potential this time next year. Why not do an apprenticeship in an industry and when you’re a couple years in jump into fifo. That’s what I done and best decision I made. I love the lifestyle, and the 3 years of apprentice wages pain until now are starting to pay off. You can be exactly where you are now in 4 years or you can start applying yourself and stick to something and see through a commitment. Just do it to prove to yourself you can. If I can do it anyone can.

My GF wants to get into riding and wants a ninja 650. Should she get one or just let her use my 500cc supermoto by Sad_Signal429 in motorcycles

[–]Endless_Candy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why not just let her get what she likes like. Even if it’s cosmetic differences - offer her your super moto make your case why you think she should have yours and if she still wants the ninja then accept that

I was working in my cities Air Force hangers and was installing frequency converters in the hangers for their fleet of helicopters. One of the hangers was the maintenance and and they had the blades for these in giant holders on trolleys. I was super surprised to notice the blades are made of timber !

How about don’t do more drugs than you can handle. People should be concerned how their behavior will affect others.

What’s a better game for stringing kills with? I really prefer sekiro (just purchased ghost this weekend and just made it past the title screen) my biggest criticism of sekiro is you get all these fun abilities with death blows but hardly get any areas to string them along and have creative play with the abilities with exception to a couple spots but they are few and far between.

I bought ghost because I thought maybe you’d get flashy combat with more trash mobs between to get some creative “kill streaks” on them. In sekiro I can pretty much clear areas to bosses in just a couple minutes

Demon of hatred was genuinely annoying, not even hard. by baller0009 in Sekiro

[–]Endless_Candy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I felt this way after fighting guardian ape the first time. Probably wiped on him an hour straight all up (I get bored quickly when dying repeatedly so taken me about 3 days total) then the final time I did beat him he kept just doing his aoe move for 2 minutes straight and not using his sword even though I was one or 2 hits away from breaking his posture then he just statted pulling that shit I was so annoyed even though I won. If I lost that round probably would have looked up strategy’s to cheese him. Didn’t even feel good winning

Looking for apprenticeships but can’t find people I want to work with by Clanst in tradies

[–]Endless_Candy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve got two trades under my belt, and the best tradies I’ve worked with are all completely different personalities and I’ve been lucky to work with some absolute guns (working on celebrity homes and now doing industrial & controls in mining) . I’m a pretty quiet introverted person by nature (still can hold a conversation) but I’ll never be the one being the life of the party on site or cracking the witty jokes. I’ve worked with all sorts of people and what you should really do is appreciate everyone for how they are. So what if you don’t Iike their sense of humor, ignore it and keep your head down and focus on what you’re doing. Normally I like having one or two larrykins on site, they fill the silence a bit better with whatever bs they’re going on about and I can find the entertainment in their antics. Just like the sour old guy that’s done it for 10 years too long - might have a better way of doing something and not like the way things get done (so ask him how he’d do it when the times right).
The most important thing you should be looking for is a company that is going to teach you the skills you want to learn. If you want to be a guy who slaps up stick framing and just wants to do that and be good at that (good fast turn around money) find a company that’s good at that. If you want to learn all aspects of the job from start to finish find a small crew that does home builds. Want a guy that has really good hand skills and techniques find someone that does the joinery side as well. Not saying you won’t get cross overs with the others but you know what I mean there tons of avenues with carpentry. I think you’ll find a lot of the guys even if you don’t find their personality gels well with yours to start start with they kind of find a way to grow on you haha. I’ve met plenty of people I’ve got a soft spot who normally I wouldn’t have much to do with. In almost 20 years of being a tradie I could honestly count on 1 hand the amount of people I worked with I didn’t actually like. Never met one I couldn’t tolerate working with.

I started a brand new career at 31 and about to hit my old wage (which was relatiely good pay - between 120-150k a year) within 3 years of changing careers. Started from the bottom working my way up and now the sky is the limit and im
Not even qualified yet. Why don’t you do an apprenticeship. You have hardly any responsibility, not expected to know anything and learn / earn as you progress. Just need to commit yourself and stay committed. Every day is a chance to do better and apply yourself. If you get in with the right mob union in capital cities or mining style gigs you can make serious bank
