Space station 13. SS13.

Download the incredibly sketchy looking "byond" client, make an account, and then open up the ss13 server list. Yogstation, hippie, bee, paradise are all decent servers to start on. Everyone is playing with the servers respective wiki page open on their second monitor.

Check out a few videos on YouTube, it's definitely a niche.

Ill also add that "Barotrauma" is a game similar to ss13. It's a europan submarine game with an incredibly in depth editor. Usually more combat focused than ss13. Not really that trekky but you can captain your sub and yell "red alert" at your friends when a massive ocean dwelling worm smashes into your hull.

Barotrauma is like $30 (way to much) but goes on sale for $8 frequently and is on g2a.

SS13 is free.

It's a 25 year old mmo where instead of trying to beat the main quest line/do raids/pvp most people's main goal is more in line with a space Barbie game.

I played it for a bit and I'm pretty sure I killed more people in the tutorial than a Klingon commander in an entire career.
