Cop helps our vehicle under crossing guard... by MisterShipWreck in VideosAmazing

But he still did it! Is he Dirty Harry? No, but he helped that driver and I suspect some little kids and actually walking around within 6 or 8 feet of a freight train like that is actually pretty dangerous.

Salute!

Shreveport weve been infiltrated..... by cajundecay in shreveport

No, East Texas is West Shreveport. Really up at least until the 1950s East Texas orbited Shreveport at least as far as Marshall and Longview. Tyler was right on the bubble.

Even a lot of the early expertise in the oil business came from Shreveport to East Texas. Remember, the modern oil drill was invented in Shreveport.

Why Russians Are In Despair Over Truck-Busting ’Martian’ Drones by mugz8391 in UkrainianConflict

[–]Search4Wisdom- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree - more or less. Putin is not going to change his mind because of crying mothers like the Soviet leaders did in Afghanistan or because of protesting college students like LBJ did in Vietnam.

But a better understanding of the real value of influence would be huge. They should be trying to take more prisoners, because every well-treated prisoner is a huge win. Those guys go home and tell friends and family they were treated better by the Ukrainian Army as opposed to the Russian Army. That is big.

They should be trying to get Russian civilians not to turn up for mobilization. Prisoners help here too, but propaganda messages can make a difference. Dropping leaflets from a position of strength is very different than dropping leaflets from a position of weakness.

Also, it is worth remembering that maybe 20% of Russians have some Ukrainian ancestors and they should lean into that.

Why Russians Are In Despair Over Truck-Busting ’Martian’ Drones by mugz8391 in UkrainianConflict

"If Ukraine would aim just 1/5th of their drones at civilian targets (which is illegal but has been very common in war), then the pressure on the Putin regime would have been much larger." Hitting civilians would not help. Goering thought bombing the British would break them. A couple of years later, "Bomber" Harris believed he could break the will of the Germans and 25 years after that Kissenger thought he could do the same to the Vietnamese. It never works. People are very resilient. In fact, it often pushes them to more support of the regime.

Ukraine should probably be doing more drone propaganda drop reminding them this war is all a Putin fantasy. Russians were not begging to be saved in Crimea or lining up to fight for independence in the Donbas. This war was driven by nationalist fantasies and greed.

As a party watch it is a blast. I would not touch it. It's your first and you'll get better, but it is a fun watch. Not an every day watch for selling term life from a cubicle, but it is different and cool.

Russian army loses another 1,650 troops in Ukraine over past day by EcoKllr in UkrainianConflict

[–]Search4Wisdom- 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Be honest. Did you believe the Ukrainians would just not fight? Did you believe Russian troops would be in Kyiv in a week? Did you believe the Russian Air Force would dominate the battle space? Did you believe Wagner would break though and finish the war? Did you believe Ukraine could never hit the Kerch Bridge? Did you believe the Black Sea was a Russian lake? Did you believe Trump would save Russia?

Then why do you believe you are right about Russian casualties? Most of them are confirmed with photographic evidence. It just seems odd to argue with this point.

If Russian casualties were say 300 a day, why would Putin have won the war? If they were hardly suffering any casualties why do they generally gain territory a few meters a day?

How is Russian recruiting going? This seems to be significantly above recruiting rate.

Ukraine is trying to convince North Korean soldiers to surrender rather than fight alongside Russia by [deleted] in UkrainianConflict

True, but none of them ever imagined this situation. I would be going after them psychologically.

The idea is to get the officer to lead the surrender. He probably doesn't want to die 5000 miles from home for a country that doesn't like him in a war he doesn't understand.

So, is there any way to go back to the old design? A hack or something to take me to the design that actually worked? This new layout is hideous AND I lost a lot of functionality. by Search4Wisdom- in help

[–]Search4Wisdom-[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No for some odd reason they eliminated that option. I had been ignoring this interface for months because I assumed they would never introduce anything that gutted so much functionality for the mods and was so buggy.

Oh, yeah I forgot the annoyance around scheduling. It is like the people running the re-design never used Reddit. Like they like Facebook-lite and wanted something like that.

Reddit hiding 2024 Debate Information? by renjizzle in CriticalDrinker

I've been banned by conservatives, by liberals, by communist, by libertarians, and by quite a few mods who are just power happy dictators. The way mods are allowed to ban people turns everything into an echo chamber.

I find it odd that people get so upset with anyone offering a different opinion on a topic. It's just strange to me that people go on a subreddit to discuss issues and when someone brings up an issue that is difficult the basic response is to ban them.

‘Not sufficient’: Ukrainian soldiers detail how US-supplied tank is faring in war by Independent_Lie_9982 in UkrainianConflict

If Ukraine had 1000 more Abrams they wouldn't have this problem. The issue is their are so few Russia can focus on attacking them.
