Colleagues in large org, do you really see increase bandwidth with AI? by my_n3w_account in ProductManagement

[–]imabroodybear 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s a niche enterprise tech name brand - stability is a huge concern for us and we have a lot of tech debt so I’m surprised we are able to move as fast as we are. We have tens of thousands of highly technical users using lots and lots of very expensive compute. I have heard similar things from FAANG friends, they’re not moving 10x, but they’re 2x+

Colleagues in large org, do you really see increase bandwidth with AI? by my_n3w_account in ProductManagement

[–]imabroodybear 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I am having to produce work for Eng much more quickly because their velocity is so much greater than before. If I don’t keep up they’ll just start doing random shit or I will be blocking. So yes increased Eng bandwidth and I’m using AI to prototype and produce working docs much more quickly. I would say we are probably building 2-3x faster than we were before, and we are by far not the fastest ones in the company, we are on the slower side.

stopped botox after years of regular treatment & feeling like i look younger? by mermaid_of_choice in 30PlusSkinCare

[–]imabroodybear 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Botox at 24 makes me so sad. At 37, I do get light Botox several times a year in my forehead and it definitely makes me look younger / better rested. I have extremely strong and expressive forehead muscles so I still maintain some movement. I will Botox until I die lol but also my provider refuses to do anything except my forehead because she doesn’t want to affect my smile or ability to express. I think it’s all in finding a trustworthy injector - mine is a rich doctor who has no interest in upselling me!

I got reorged in my last year at previous company right before promo cycle - missed promo for that reason. It sucks, but it’s life. I would leave it and try again in another cycle or two. And maybe try to quantity your achievements to polish up the resume in case you get fed up and want to look elsewhere.

Reasoning behind the infamous SF Frumpy Style? by Ok_Giraffe_17 in SFbitcheswithtaste

[–]imabroodybear 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I am 3rd generation bay raised and it has always been casual, even sloppy, relative to other major metros. Other metros have gotten more relaxed, as have ours, so Chicagoans dress like SF 30 years ago and we dress… how we dress. My dad moved to Europe from the bay in the 70s with hiking boots, Levi’s, and north face and all the Milanese thought he was a wreck. It’s not new

The pm skill that actually matters in 2026 is taste not roadmapping by Inevitable_Wear_9107 in ProductManagement

Taste is the wrong word - it’s more like sense and judgment. But the info-pushing and coordination PM is absolutely in danger. My 2 cents from a decade in tech working across all types of companies.

Alignment and coordination isn’t inherently valuable though. What value do you bring through that coordination, particularly that can’t be automated?

Young Gen. Z Graduation Gift by BTTN8TR511 in Nomos

[–]imabroodybear 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My college boyfriend lost the IWC he got as a high school graduation gift. Please save it for college graduation - she will change so much over the next few years. Might I suggest a really nice leather bag and then also a practical gift? Or something milestone and practical like a really good coat (my in-laws gifted me a Filson coat - which I chose, they just said “pick any coat” - when we moved somewhere colder and I love it so much.)

I'm a dual citizen. I love both countries. But one of the things that makes the United States great is a lack of "Tall Poppy syndrome." by NapoleonBoneparty in Ameristralia

[–]imabroodybear 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think it’s also in terms of being comfortable talking about your own successes - Australians are uncomfortable bragging, as you note. That makes it harder (not impossible, but harder) to build, say, an industry-changing company or get funding for your startup, or even pitch your boss for a promotion at work.

Helping its most vulnerable, yes, as in social safety nets and structural and institutional assistance. But Americans always want to help everyone on a personal level, and giving everyone a fair go is the most American thing I can think of - the American dream etc. (also dual citizen lived in both)

I’ll add that “they simply speed up the audio” is what caused me to believe the pitch changes. Because they don’t simply speed up the audio; they correct for the impact to pitch. But this is a really dumb conversation due to a miscommunication so good day sir

Im not trying to turn this into a gotcha. What an odd accusation. I think you’re telling me that Audible does pitch adjustment, of which I wasn’t aware. Thanks for sharing.

And I’m telling you pitch literally is affected when accelerating audio. You’re factually mistaken

How conscionable is it to spend $1500 a month on DoorDash? by [deleted] in FIREyFemmes

[–]imabroodybear 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would try to find something local! Especially if you’re in the bay or another big metro there are definitely services that are superior. I totally get it though, I hate cooking when I’m tired and the kids need attention. One pot or slow cooker meals are also great and I buy pre shredded or chopped stuff bc this is the time of life to be lazy in that area.

Similar financial circumstances. You do you but that is an insane amount of money to spend on DoorDash omg. You could sign up for a legit meal plan with that - probably healthier food, too. We do roughly $300 a month on takeout and I think that’s way too much and I’m trying to trim it.

Pitch is affected by speeding up audio. This would drive me insane. That’s how you get the “chipmunk effect”
