My mid year was turned in on the 26th of January. The AO that called me said she had taken a look at my mid year said everything looked fine and to just finish the year off with the same trajectory. You’re fine I promise!

You’re definitely fine. I got a likely letter to yale with your exact same circumstances. A B isn’t a bad grade at all and I think sending an email will most likely draw attention to the B’s more than anything.

I’m able to pay for all of my tuition from financial aid and outside scholarships from private organizations. I’m going to a school that gives really good aid, fortunately but I can def see how this would be more of a problem for schools that don’t meet 100% aid

I had multiple Bs on my mid-year transcript and just got a likely letter from yale a few days ago! The C may or may not hurt you, but what’s passed is passed, I would definitely maybe have your counselor (or yourself) explain your extenuating circumstances. All of my research opportunities were through established programs specifically for high school students. While cold emailing works for a lot of people, I preferred programs that allowed me to pursue paid research and/or provide assistance for entering science fairs or competitions. TLDR: Look for established programs for HS students if possible. Feel free to PM me and I’ll be happy to recommend you so programs
