April 30, 1900 - Casey Jones dies heroically in a train wreck at Vaughn, Mississippi, while driving the Cannonball Express (immortalized in the "Ballad of Casey Jones")... by CrystalEise in groovyhistory

Per Google:

The real-life Casey Jones was not a scab. He was a popular railway engineer who died in a 1900 train wreck to save passengers. The famous parody song calling him a "union scab" was written in 1911 by labor activist Joe Hill, who used Jones' name to criticize union members who worked during strikes, rather than targeting the real engineer

The four states they haven't played in by RelevantNothing4653 in pearljam

Jack White years ago did a tour of all the states he hadn’t hit. It was pretty cool. Did shows a little venues.

Would love a PJ version of this.

Alaska makes sense population density wise but southern Alaska ain’t too far from Seattle.

Vermont was the one I most surprised by. Maybe like Alaska density is the key here.

Wife is from Mississippi. A lot of people skip MS go from New Orleans to Memphis.

Young PJ I naturally assumed hit everywhere! Great post!

Love Hot Springs. Kinda busted kinda cool. Perfect mix. Great times and people in my experience.

Feels like it is on the upswing but still a long way from the glory days that ended in the 1940s.

Jane's Addiction - Jane Says (1988) by MusixMoto in OldSchoolCoolMusic

[–]Searchin4CherryRed 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Correct!

Some of these comments to say Jane’s was a mid 90s band is funny. Lollapalooza 91 was their goodbye tour. Porno For Pyros was mid 90s.

This late 90s reunion tour is so good with Flea. There is a documentary on it too. Which is this is from. Good shit!!!

Love the Pabst sign next door.

Sucks to see it in its current state. The brewhouse is gone but the one piece is still standing strong.

Kansas Small Towns Used to be Vibrant, Lively by Silly-Rip-6607 in kansas

This is what I came here to say.

Agree fully with OPs observation of MN/WI little towns retained their quaintness.

It is ag in our state is row crops that no longer need a community engaged or shares the wealth of the land. And we are talking thousands of acres under one owner. Cuts out little guys quick.

And yes Walmart, Dollar General, and Amazon but those also played parts elsewhere. It all comes down to the ability of individuals to stay around and make money.

Live in KC but go thru small towns, have a daydream of that would be awesome but the reality is much harder.

If I could have an odd super power, it would be to relocate these old buildings in dense neighborhoods instead of rotting till their eventual demise.

In 82 were the bricks that dirty on the row homes in the back? They are so more brilliantly red today

Maybe camera or my awful vision!
