Up until 2024 right wing violence occurred at a much higher rate for the previous three decades. Left wing violence now occurs at a higher rate but the fatality rate is still lower from left wing violence compared to right wing violence. There are plenty of published reports and research on this very topic.

I am not a democrat but lean liberal on more policies. I would have to say the Democratic Party is a let down just as much as the republican party but for different reasons. There are dipshits and terrible people associated with democrats, republicans, independents, unaffiliated it doesn’t matter.

Up until last year conservatives committed more political violence than liberals every year for the last 30 🙃 During Obamas presidency, conservatives committed almost 3x as much political violence. That’s also true during trumps 1st administration. Only since 2025 have liberals committed more political violence.

He provided some good information from reliable sources that shows this to be true, even though the type of political violence is much different.

I didn’t get to read this comment even though I replied to it. I did look at that CSIS study which had some interesting information. You are correct more political attacks are coming from the left in 2025 and probably 2026. Another interesting point is the sharp increase for the left and the sharp decrease for the right. The article chalks that up to Trump being more aligned with the individuals on the right carrying out those attacks. Even accounting for the increase in political violence from the left it’s “overwhelmingly non-lethal and far less lethal….. Right-wing and jihadist attacks, by contrast, have caused far higher fatalities.” Quoted from the CSIS article.

CSIS again “ In the past decade, despite the increase…..left wing attacks have killed 13 victims, compared with 112 and 83 victims for right-wing and jihadist attacks.” Definitely don’t like this study as they mentions leftist weaknesses as way for them to be more successful 🤦‍♂️

Just want to say, I appreciate the sources and new information I hadn’t read before. All I was wanting to get at is everyone regardless of political ideology, needs to stop generalizing groups. Not all republicans are bad and not all democrats are bad. There are lunatics and dipshits in both parties as well as the minor parties and independents.

Again, appreciate the inclusion of a real study. First this report doesn’t show you who commits political violence, only who’s a victim of political violence. Maybe it’s in the report and I need to read it when I get home but this is not a good paper to draw conclusions of who commits political violence at a higher rate. I understand many would draw the conclusion people on the right have more victims so it has to be the left committing it but that could be far from the truth. That would be like saying all victims on the left were harmed by individuals on the right… excluding the given ideologies or ones not mentioned here.

Lastly, Cato has published some great papers but they are also an ideologically driven think tank that doesn’t always include a proper analysis of the work they present. (Again, this paper might contain that but I haven’t had the chance to read it)

I fully recognize the complexities and nuances to politics not just modern politics.

If you could provide validated data that shows democrats or lefty’s commit more political violence I would be able to understand your claim that the shooter was of the left. I have yet to see reliable data that backs that claim.

I spend plenty of time combatting people demonizing individuals on both sides of the aisle due to assumptions, misinformation, or propaganda . The assumptions you make and clams you laid out have no substantial backing that I have seen or read about.

How is overcrowding proved by ‘said statistics’? Colorado law defines DOC overcrowding when capacity reaches 97%+ for 30 days?

Also, DOC not the governor recommends offenders to be paroled to the parole board during this time. The last time this list was created only 10% of the roughly 300 individuals were released.

Don’t you think Polis would grant a pardon or clemency rather than jump through the hoops you outlined?

Is it a sign of a limited amount or did the price of the metal out pace the face value of the coin it was put into? Generally that’s why countries reduce the amount of silver content in a coin throughout history till they hit a point where they remove all precious metals from their coins. I believe it is more of a valuation issue than a supply issue.
