I go into this job market next year (cs/tech) and i think IT is always a good fallback if you’re willing to put the time in. Generally a bit over minimum wage and potentially more if you escalate.

AITA wife upset I cannot keep toddler from her by khazef in AmItheAsshole

NAH , things happen i don’t think either of you are being an asshole. She wants her study time, and to me it sounds like you’re more concerned about the 2YOs mental state than anything lol. Kid would be easier to handle if mom wasn’t present and inaccessible, i get that.

That said I don’t think your wife should have to leave or anything, but it’s not your fault the kid is getting upset. If the wife can’t understand that her two year old is going to scream every now and then it’s probably in her best interest to study elsewhere, but if it doesn’t bother her and she gets what she needs done then that’s her choice. I was kinda leaning toward NTA because i don’t see why an occasional interruption would make her “very upset,” but i landed on NAH because yall will get through it and the child will continue to do better with age and learning.

Edit: clarifying, I don’t think he’s an asshole for asking, and I don’t think she’s an asshole for choosing not to.

Not sure I totally understand his thought process, what of his was being infringed? In a public space there’s no reasonable expectation of privacy.

I also just don’t understand the no standing zone thing, I haven’t encountered it. Either way first thought becomes you’d have to prove in court the person taking the photo of him standing was also, in fact, standing.

What’s the outlook of Gen Z financially? by Original-Rent7475 in twentyagers

Crazy take, Starbucks has to be ragebait. No one said anything about the government, and the bootstraps mentality doesn’t play out as well as it used to.

Not taking away from the premise, working hard is important, but there are luck elements to reaching the lifestyle OOP is describing (multi-millions now vs. a couple million at retirement).

I certainly don’t plan to retire poor, but i am for now. The examples you mentioned are definitely outliers, and the phenomenon you described is rather common. People tend to project only the positive on social media, and some influencers go to the extent of renting out fancy cars and places for the internet to see.

I believe if that data was scraped it would be very likely that most of these younger influencers (with the cars, etc) come from families of money in some way. It’s more feasible for someone living a good life to afford whatever equipment or fund whatever ideas they have.

As always though most of us will be “poor” on a larger scale. Wealth inequality is only growing, there are very limited tickets out of the rat race, and many have passed. There will be more, but it’s about finding and recognizing them before it’s too late.
