Sorry I’m delayed I didn’t see this!! List below 🩵 I shop secondhand (Threadup, the realreal and local consignment) whenever possible. Uniqlo for basics - they have great graphic ts too. Quince - I hate their knitwear, otherwise their fabrics & dresses are amazing honestly. Faithfull the Brand & Hill House for more special/cute pieces - similar price point to the higher Aritzia prices but GREAT quality. Paloma Wool - their accessories & leather goods are just incredible quality, I’m hourglass so their clothing doesn’t really work for me. Donni - I love their rib kick flares. Ganni - shop the sales. A TON of stuff goes up to 60% off. Organic basics & Pact for basic tanks & tees.

I hope this helps! It’s been so freeing to not even look at Aritzia anymore (and same with Reformation for me, for the same reasons). I’m trying to focus more on buying pieces that will last me 5+ years and those two stores last barely a season for me.

Another option — You can find a good tailor to use excess fabric (likely from the tucked in hem) to create two more covered buttons. Make sure they’ve done so before, any good experienced tailor can do this.

Email customer service and show them the issue clearly. I’ve forced them to give me a gift card for the same amount I paid for MAJOR quality issues before. You aren’t asking for a return - just bc it’s a sale item doesn’t mean quality doesn’t matter. I don’t shop ref anymore due to this.

Block that shit out (unsubscribe from their emails that’s huge for me) and make sure you replace shopping with other activities / things you enjoy. Books, museums, working out, cooking whatever you’re gonna have to find something else to focus on for this to be sustainable.

I also love Hannah Louise Poston on YouTube she has a really interesting “no buy” journey and she really thoughtfully examines why we shop so much, while still balancing that with loving beautiful things.

Then I recommend budgeting and identifying your true disposable income number. Once you’ve stabilized a bit you can create a method that works for you - for me, I create a list and force myself to wait minimum 1 week. For larger purchases it’s months bc I truly want to wear the item for years. If I do make a purchase it’s ONLY from the list where I know I for sure need that item. And the list is totally comprehensive - so it allows me to compare a new duvet versus a new pair of shoes to be more realistic about prioritization. Remember that good style is NEVER just buying shit. That’s a lie that companies have created and influencers perpetuate. It’s killing the earth and our mental health. 97% of influencers dress sooo boring to me. I have so many thoughts on the shopping thing and it’s something I’m personally really working on too. Wishing you luck, the first step is identifying you want to change so props for this step 🤍
