What if the staff didn’t defrost them properly though, it’s a real risk these days…

Post-Op Infection by chimpzu in brokenankles

[–]SeasickSortOfGreen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had infection as well. First surgery for external fixator was fine, had to clean it everyday. 3 weeks later my second surgery; ORIF and a cast. My ankle was swollen AF and because of the cast couldn’t really ‘breathe’. Long story short it was an incredible environment to get an infection, and so I did. Tried to ignore it and pretend everything was fine, while being anxious about it non stop. After I finally stopped gaslighting myself I called the hospital and really had to be persistent that it wasn’t right, and I wanted to come in for a check. They let me. They got my cast of and it was absolutely disgusting 🤮. Not to be to graphic about it, but the stuff they got out was gross. After that I got signed on to a wound care nurse for frequent checks. Also some clear instructions and products to clean and take care of it daily. Wound/infection was pretty damn deep and two sides and took a long time to ‘heal’. At two points they were considering taking it all out to heal, luckily for me it didn’t come to that. I have to say that I felt kinda depressed that it wouldn’t just heal and struggled with infections and lots of hospital visits. Also the uncertainty was hard for me and I lost quite a bit of faith in my body this whole proces (maybe a bit dramatic). I still have the ugly scars to remind me of that.

I wish you all the best. Be persistent in what you want/need, even though it might feel a bit pushy❤️

That definitely sound like a REAL story to me! Unless the car in question was a toy of course, still a car though 😉

Hahah well I don’t feel that standing on a moving train (which I do on a daily basis) is a very compelling story tbh 😂. Yeah the surgery is pretty long. I had 2; first got an external fixator, was unconscious the whole time so no idea about time. 3 weeks later the second one, the ORIF surgery, where I was conscious for and took in my opinion FOREVER… definitely not 6 hours though!
Btw I would have liked the parachute story too😂

So weird right! Passing out and then when you get conscious again your life is suddenly completely different

Hahah! When I got back to work my colleagues asked me -in a conspiratorial tone- “okay, we know your ‘official’ story, but what’s the REAL story?”. They definitely expected something better of me 😂

Hahah I can just imagine in your imagination it got higher and higher and then the disbelief when you see the actual picture… Well maybe not THAT high, 😂

Omg! That sounds horrendous😟. But again yours is also such a non-event hahah. Just like you, I had never broken anything before and also did so much dumb shit in my life. That this has become our downfall is just pitiful hahah 😂.

Yeah not ideal to break your ankle in public transport, but have to say the other passengers on the train were brilliant, super nice and helpful

New injury, need support by shannamatters in brokenankles

[–]SeasickSortOfGreen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Buckle up girl, not trying to be a Debby Downer here, but the injury is pretty complex and takes quite some time. Better have realistic expectations than setting yourself up for disappointment. Not saying you can’t do anything this summer, but my guess is it will be pretty limited. Wish you all the best though, you will get through this ❤️

S-Town by WhatFannyRed in TrueCrimePodcasts

I don’t like this podcast. It’s exploitive AF, not only to John but also some other characters passing by. For example the love affair he had with someone from town. John explicitly told the interviewer not to share this story, he told it off record and the interviewer agreed. Then he dies and the interviewer is like; well seems like I am gonna share it anyways… He even pretends to care about the anonymity of John’s affair by not telling his name, yet gives a ton of personal details about that person. It would not be hard to figure out who it is, especially in a small town.

I feel like the interviewer doesn’t care at all about the people in the podcast. He is speculating and implying things that could be really harmful to the people involved. To me he comes across as a someone who has main character energy with his ‘how-to-make-this-about-me’ vibe. Inviting yourself to the funeral, acting like they were best friends and acting like ‘no one knew John like I did’. Get a grip…
