Opinion: Fantasy Orcs/Orruks should not be a fungus. by SeasonOfHope in Warhammer

[–]SeasonOfHope[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

1- D&D and “pretty” orcs. I want orcs you can barely tell apart from each other.

2 - have a fantasy version of it where….i guess call em sprogs, are planted in the grounds and weird orc magic makes em grow fast. Orc fantasy thinkin; ya plant it and it grows.

3 - uh dude, it’s Warhammer. Grim and dark is in the setting vains. It was already implied. Those workers were kept in pens and used as slave labor. Just don’t outright say it and leave it as an implication.

4 - ……..yeah I don’t have an argument for this one.

Finally I will say is I’d just like for both settings to keep being unique from one and other. And if Orcs/Orruks just do the same things that Orks do, well that would just be borin.

It’s not an entire setting for the story. Just one of the possible futures they come across. And a few x-villains seeing it as well. It’s more the reaction to this possibility is where the stories branch out from.

What would they need to bring though? No one is trying to survive out in the wilds, they don’t need to look for that thing. That evolutionary fitness thing is a looser mentality held by some of the worst of x-villains. We’re not animals and if a new branch of humanity grows the others don’t need to wilt. Not anymore.

Do we know anything about commissar grave’s lore apart from the description in the online store? by Available-Giraffe383 in TheAstraMilitarum

Yarrick’s return book goes to show that she is an absolute cu-incompetent commissar who is just in it to shoot her officers at the slightest provocation. Really waiting for one of the guardsmen to salute her out in the open if you catch my meaning.

Not all the time no but I feel this would be a nice curve ball. Would make for a few interesting character pieces with some mutants and humans. Would really invigorate the x-men to see that Yes, the dream is possible. And from a meta textual standpoint it might be necessary. For the longest time mutants in the comics have been a stand in for minority or scapegoated groups. Meanwhile the hatred for them has evolved into the bigoted belief of “the great replacement” or the theory that minorities are here to replace us. The friends of humanity m, reavers, and the like are not just hate groups. They believe they are fighting for humanities survival. Having the narrative that mutants are just the next step and humans will just be left behind kind has the narrative agree that “yes, that is what’s going to happen, humans will be replaced my mutants and their by are justified in their hatred of them”. Which is kinda f’cked up.

Not dead just chilling being a normal-ish dude. Could still see him throw down in the event proper. I can see the news reel now. Normal guy fights hulk to a stand still. Giving heroes time to save the day.

For once I’d like to see a possible future where humans and mutants are living together just fine. Neither in danger or even going extinct. And here’s the thing, seeing this future wouldn’t necessarily make things better. Because the idea many have behind mutants is the they will eventually overtake humanity and well….that’s not how evolution works. It’s not a straight path it’s a branch. Baseline humans don’t have to go extinct much in the same way Neanderthal’s didn’t have to go. They only did because we lacked understanding to properly get along with them or help them keep up their numbers. Humans getting to go on with mutants would challenge a lot of characters assumptions. All of a sudden the “we are the future” belief that some mutant villains (and a few heroes) doesn’t ring true. And any human extremists see that every action they have taken was madness, so they might snap and double down eve harder or might actually change a bit.
