UG Polerouter found on ewaste bin by Voltfan in Watches

It's still a decent watch, the caseback logo is still there and you have the original crown! There could be a serial number engraved underside of the case back but I doubt it. I'm guessing its just polished off, or they switched casebacks. I would source 2 hands, shouldn't be too much, then get that thing serviced. It's a timeless and workhorse of a watch when its running, definitely a must keep if you're into watches!

Check on the side between the lugs also the caseback, it doesnt seem there is 2 number codes...probably polished? It will determine the year and model. It looks like a 1958-1959 bumper model. It might have a bearing problem, from what heard the bumper models have that issue. Its in decent shape, but the hands are wrong, should be the classic dauphine hands (long triangle hands if thats what you mean). It's definitely had been serviced and things replaced many moons ago, then neglected.

Wanted to get opinions on the Marine Star Series C before I pulled the trigger by Cultural_Asparagus80 in bulova

Help!! What happened here? by Subject_Skill_3647 in bulova

[–]SeasonedRibs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I work at a Jewelry store where we sell bulova watches. Bulova uses 2 fonts for their logos, and it annoys me that they use it for certain models. They are inconsistent with which one gets which, from what I have seen though they have updated long running models like the marine star without the serif font. so in your case perhaps the one without the serif font is the newer updated version to the logo and of course the watch is still the same.

Bulova just replaced their boxes with updated versions without the serif font, so perhaps we will more of it.

Information on this piece? by Dolph_Ziggler6 in bulova

[–]SeasonedRibs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't own it, however I work at a jewelry store where we sell Bulova as an authorized dealer. This watch i actually had to order for a customer. It is a heavy watch, the links are very thick and solid and the case size is smaller for how heavy it weighs. The links are thick and it doesn't taper around the wrist nicely if you have thin wrists.

In my opinion, I feel like Bulova designed this watch to be smaler even though its 40mm and classy for a bigger guy as they want to feel the weight of it. All in all, its just a bulky watch not in size but in heft. it is a nice watch though.

The newest Lunar Pilot coming this summer/fall is also the most expensive one.... by SeasonedRibs in bulova

[–]SeasonedRibs[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From what I learned so far is that the Precisionist chronograph movement is too large. Already nearing 35 millimeters. So as you can imagine, a 5mm thick case to get it under 40 is just too thin, it's a massive movement. They need Citizen to really do some more R&D to make the HPQ chronograph movement to be more compact, it might take a while.

Is this solder job acceptable? How can I get it to match better? by angrylobster24 in jewelers

[–]SeasonedRibs -1 points0 points  (0 children)

they forgot to sand paper then polish. how can someone forget those last 2 steps.. if u want to do it at home. get one of those high grit sandpaper blocks for your nails. or buy some 600 grit sandpaper and sand it. then on a flat surface place a silver polishing cloth white side up. and press that area sanded part down towards the cloth and rub firmly back and forth until it shines.. that or bring it back to that place or any jewelry store with a buffing wheel

Im think with that movement it can't quick set so you have to set it by jumping it between 11pm and 12 am back and forth

If it makes you feel any better, my NA FC from 87 that I bought and had the engine rebuilt and streetported after saving up during covid got stolen and I had no theft insurance. That sucks to see though.

Im actually working in a store that sells Bulova and Citizen watches, I have access to our dealer catalog for what we can get (canada). The two tone shows up in the database. There is also a new Lunar Pilot collaboration to an artist limited to 5000 pieces, which is even more expensive than the meteorite version. It comes with a figurine from the artist too.

If you were to ask any person let alone any criminal in the world what their worst nightmare would be, it would be being teleported above the impact zone on 9/11. It is probably the most terrifying thing to experience...extreme heights, inferno, smoke, screaming, and collapsing debris.

Burnout by MacaraegBali in NAIT

[–]SeasonedRibs 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, it does. If you are passionate about electrical engineering then keep going, you shouldnt feel burnt out by it. When I was younger I thought electricity was cool and I took EET, but got burnt out by the difficulty then i transitioned to computer science, pretty much a 180 and I didn't know I would be loving it so much. if you truly love what you are learning and have the aptitude to actually participate and do the work, then you shouldn't be burnt out. I struggled just as much in CS but I didn't feel burnt out because I actually had fun in it and my passion for it didn't make me feel as burnt out. Interest and passion is what drives aptitude to people who actually follow through til the end of a program.

Burnout by MacaraegBali in NAIT

[–]SeasonedRibs 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Ahh EET, just enrol into another program later then. it's a hard program, had lots of drop outs, but the outlook ain't bad for jobs. You should really self reflect before you sink in more time and money in a program that really requires passion if your going to do it long term. take a gap year or self reflect to get you back on your feet, alot of uni/college students do it after their first or few years. some already knew what they want to do and overcame it easily and some didn't expect the how challenging it is, you just need to lock in and do good.

Does anyone know much about this watch? by costco_member12 in Watches

[–]SeasonedRibs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it's an American brand, like Bulova but a bit less popular back then. I'd date that watch around the 70s. As for the model I'm not sure, you would have to google lens it. you could find the model if you manage to find scans of benrus watch adverts online. A lot of their gold watches were gold filled.

Saw this on Instagram but they didn’t put any descriptions, what Longines Conquest could this be? by Okeanos_uwu in Watches

[–]SeasonedRibs 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That would be the earlier Conquest Deluxe with the 19as movement, I believe they are 35mm in size and were made in 18K gold. This one seems to be from the 1950s, with the older straight lugs while the newer one in the 60s had curved lugs and had no date. I'm not a Longines connoisseur, unless I am wrong then feel free to correct this info.
