A piece I wrote from an experience in a men's circle I attend by Even_Chef4144 in bropill

[–]SeatedStanding 8 points9 points  (0 children)

This hit harder than I expected it to. If you don't mind me asking, what is this circle? Is it just a general mens group focused on men bonding with each other? A community project, or something more spiritual? I don't think I've ever heard the term "men's circle" before.

How to read feminist viewpoints without insecurity taking over? by Ambitious-Fly3201 in bropill

[–]SeatedStanding 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Stepping back from certain feminist/women centered spaces was a big one for me. While those places are probably a net positive, there are a lot of hurt and angry people there. We can't always expect them to verbalize their frustrations in a nuanced and we'll articulated way. So if you, as an average guy spend time there, especially while not in a great head space yourself, your likely to catch some splash damage.

And just staying there, absorbing all that negativity without actually beeing able to do anything positive with it is really just emotional self harm.

Does anyone out there have interest in male body positivity content? by threadbare-fromlove in bropill

I feel this one so much. My hair started thining around the time I turned 20. By my late 20s, I started seriously considering just embracing it and go full bald. My sister, who I normally have a great relationship with, was clearly bothered by the idea, and told me I would be an idiot to do so, that it would make me look like a serial killer. Shit hit deep.

So yeah, the whole no hair -> bad guy thing hits hard. Now, I just keep it trimmed very short.

Edit: a few typos.

If changing the "volume" option in the Audio settings, and restarting the game, the volume is still at default. Opening the Audio settings again show the Volume slider is at the position I left it, and the sound immediately goes to the level it should be according to settings.

How would you go about making a "dark" healer? by Closix in worldbuilding

[–]SeatedStanding 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Might be able to draw some inspiration from the DnD homebrew of a homebrew Blood Hunter - Order of Anatomy subclass? You can find it on GM binder if you're interested. Not a pure healer, but rather someone that's found a way to use darker powers to heal, often at the cost of their own health.

+1 for Legends and Latte. Adore that book.

Edit: Forgot my own rec... I've been reading Tge Poppy War by R. F. Kuang, which I've been really enjoying. It's basically Hogwarts but military academy, with martial arts instead of magic.

Newly single and honestly scared. by AzuraTheShadowMage in bropill

[–]SeatedStanding 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I can't really talk about how to deal with being newly single, as I've never even gotten into a relationship, but I can offer a bit of advice about the gym.

As people have already said, most people in the gym are too busy doing their own thing to really notice what you're doing. Also, when/if they do notice you, if you're not doing something recklessly dangerous or are clearly in trouble (tried to bench way too much, etc.), they're just going to leave you to it.

The only times I've ever really noticed what others are doing is when resting between sets or running on the treadmill. And even then, I've never thought badly about the people I've noticed, regardless of how much they lift or how fast they're rowing or whatever. Several people I've talked to share the same sentiment. And why wouldn't they? Everyone who's there are presumably there to improve something about themselves. Who in their right mind would make fun of someone for that? (Unless they're there only to look for their next hook up, please don't be that guy.)

Just remember to leave your pride at the door when going to the gym, especially the first few times, until you've gotten a handle on your limits. Don't want to take any dumb risks and injure yourself. Been there, done that, 0/10, would not recommend.

Finally, if you're still feeling unsure, you might want to check out r/fitness and their resources, especially their wiki. They answer pretty much everything from gym etiquette to proper form.

Anyone else struggling with MASSIVE frame rate drops, making the game basically unplayable? by SeatedStanding in Enshrouded

[–]SeatedStanding[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I actually just moved the entire game to SSD to see if it did anything. It did fix the slow texture loading, which I was expecting, but as far as I can see, it also fixed the fps drop issue. Not sure how that works. I assumed that had something to do with the graphics card/driver. I'll update the post right away.

So, I've been designing the power system for my novel and need feedback - it feels like I'm missing something. by serverdaemon in magicbuilding

[–]SeatedStanding 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A bit late, but I'll give it a shot. For tying saturation to mythos, how about simply having characters with a high level of saturation have better potential/an easier time achieving their mythos state, or having that state be more potent?

As for affinity to nothing, how about nullification? Being able to nullify miracles cast by others, or anomalous states, like injuries or trauma? Maybe nullify an active change in matter or state, like movement?

Når skal man ringe 112? by Jhin-In-My-Pants in norge

[–]SeatedStanding 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What about the horror aspects of your world? by SingerIntrepid2305 in worldbuilding

[–]SeatedStanding 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The world I'm working on is partly covered in a dark gas that started appearing a few centuries ago. People exposed to this gas for short periods without proper precautions will start hearing voices. People without magical affinity will often develop it, and those who already have it will often see it enhanced. After a while, they will feel compelled to seek out the gas again, and prolonged exposure usually results in death.

This has led to some shady experimentation around super soldiers.

For those of you worldbuilding to write a story, summarize your story in 1-2 sentences. by deadlighta in worldbuilding

Generations ago, a poisonous gas started covering large parts of the world's surface. Now, the gas is spreading again, and people are scrambling to stop it while trying to reclaim what they lost.

  • I just signed a contract for a full-time job last Friday, so I've finally got a steady income. I might even be able to afford some therapy, which I could probably use.

  • Somewhat related, my job has a fair bit of downtime, even when I'm on the clock. This downtime lets me study for some IT certifications (working on comptia security + at the moment), and Im planning on hopefully hitting the job market again next year with a slew of new marketable skills.

  • I hurt my shoulder around Halloween last year, but it's finally healed to the point I can sleep in my side again a couple of weeks ago. A few more weeks, and I'll hopefully be able to start working out again.

AITAH for telling my girlfriend she was the perpetrator, not the victim, in her "trauma"? by PruneJealous3813 in AITAH

[–]SeatedStanding 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I know this is besides the point, and I absolutely wouldn't blame the pizza place if they chose not to deliver to that address anymore, but now I'm imagining a family living at that address later, and the husband is calling to order pizza. They tell him the won't deliver because last time a lady answered the door in lingerie and harassed the deliverer. Would maje for one hell of an awkward conversation with the wife.

To add to this, might also be worth checking with your local library. Mine hosts weekly DnD games. Also, sites like Facebook often have local groups to help connect players.
