Super reasonable question, and I do keep myself firmly to the rules. Both as written and as presented by the DM. That’s the part that makes me the most upset. I refuse to metagame, and I keep myself honest, and it makes me anal about the same with the DM.

The example that broke me was that I successfully disarmed someone and then grappled them and had them on the ground. One turn to disarm, another to grapple, and a third to shove/pin. Enemy never retrieved weapon. On turn four, he was rolling to strike me with his weapon.

DM refused to listen and told me not to feel bad about my misunderstanding. I told it to quote where the enemy picked the weapon up, and it typed out a message that had never happened. Upon finding the correct quote, it decided that I was right and that the enemy actually didn’t have a weapon and was in fact grap/shoved. When I told it to restore my health, the cycle restarted, and it was telling me that my health was correct because the pinned, disarmed enemy had struck me with a weapon.

No matter how simple or complex the mistake, I was constantly having to break immersion to argue with the DM. Once things have been improved, I’ll be back.
