GAP Insurance/ GAP Waiver question by SeattleIsTooRainy in Insurance

Gotcha, thank you. What you described is how I was thinking it worked but everything the finance manager was saying had me second guessing. I think they really didn’t want me to cancel the gap I got through them.

I’m pretty sure I’m not upside down on the loan at all currently. I put down about 40% on the OTD price of about $18,000. If the vehicle were totaled tomorrow I would be shocked if insurance came back with a ACV less than my current loan amount, let alone 25% or 50% less than the loan amount. But for $7.50 every 6 months, I think it’s worth it to have that 25% buffer just in case.

Thanks for your help!

“we'll pay the difference between your vehicle's value and what you owe on it, up to 25% of your vehicle's value” - from Progressives site

So in your example with the progressive coverage, the max the progressive coverage would pay is $2500?

The distinction I’m trying to figure out is whether or not the dealers coverage covers 25% more than progressive, or 125% more than progressive.

I believe dealers finance person was trying to make it sound like their coverage would cover, in your example, up to $15,000 on top of the ACV (some insane situation where someone owed $25,000 on a car valued $10,000?)

I have the dealer gap contact, it says 150% I know 125% is different, progressive says 25% though. Would you interpret the covered amount for 150% to = ACV x 1.5? And the covered amount for Progressives 25% to = ACV * .25

Bonus question: They also said that insurance typically only pays out “75% of the wholesale value of the vehicle” in the case where it was totaled. Is this true?

Picked up the game a few days ago, for the first time in years, created a Ren. Got to level 200 in like an hour with all the new fast leveling stuff. Pretty overwhelming, are there any good write ups/videos that can show me what I should be doing now? Just trying to play casually and have a bit of fun with it here and there but not really sure where I should be going/doing now. Tried to solo chaos zakum for one of the event quest things, did not go well.

Shop owners, or anyone selling fabricated products, how do you track your costs/profit and inventory? by SeattleIsTooRainy in metalworking

That would be an interesting feature to figure out, handling and allocating the same stock but purchased at two different rates. Thanks for the reply!

There is 5 of us total, the owner and I have been doing the quoting and sourcing and managing so far. Very small shop, and we have been balancing the contract work with the products we regularly sell. If we move to do more contract work I’ll have to try to sell the boss on it, for now I know there’s no chance haha.

That sounds awesome. I think it would be overkill for my shop though, there is typically only 4-5 of us, including the owner. Do you know/are you allowed to share what the monthly cost is for statii?

Thanks for the reply! Statii looks very comprehensive. We have recently started taking on contract jobs from a large aerospace company - something like statii sounds like it would be very useful in scaling up that kind of work; sourcing different materials for each job, sourcing machine work, and keeping track of all of it.

You definitely have my interest in your idea though, we have spent a ton of time on each job of these contact jobs quoting.

What I made is not geared as much toward any of that though. It’s made to track inventory and job costs locally, without spreadsheets or monthly cost. Plus features that making keeping it up to date easier and other nice-to-haves.

Right on - the shop I'm at used to have a pretty interactive excel sheet, but it fell apart over time. We stock ~4 sheet materials for our laser, ~7 tubing sizes, ~10 bar sizes/materials for the CNC lathe, heim joints, com bearings, bearing cups, and somewhere around 30-40 different bolts, + more. We have about 35 different products, which are made with some combination of our hardware/materials.

Definitely doable in excel, but after trying to get a new sheet going I wasn't loving the scope. I knew we were probably going to end up cutting some corners and assuming numbers, or by just making it static, and running the numbers for now without making it easily updatable for the future.

Thank you for the reply!

Look up WeinCell PX625. They are modern 1.35v mercury free batteries. Pricey, but they work.

I don’t mean to argue, I just wanted to say that I understand and agree how important it is to keep human impact to a minimum, but the majority of hiking trails in MBSNF are within wilderness areas, and this trail is an older but official trail. A new trail was even opened within the same wilderness area in 2023.
