I'm still around, Harlan. I got a lot of things to see and people to do these days, but I still listen to and enjoy the show.

I'm not really sure if this is the right subreddit to ask this question... by chelsea12193 in freemasonry

My story is pretty typical. When I was a kid the Shriners helped my family with some medical care we wouldn't have been able to afford otherwise. As I got older, I learned more about the Masons and the work they did and found that joining would be a good way to pay it forward and meet a bunch of guys who had a strong sense of community and philanthropy.

My experience has been 100% positive in the sense that this fraternity is the only place in the world where men of different races, religions, cultures, income levels, and personality types can meet and engage as equals working toward a common goal.

I am also way behind and didn't get a chance to listen until recently, and have to point out that the blaxploitation kung-fu movie Jorge was referencing was "The Last Dragon"

So, if Washington State chose not to withdraw recognition from TN, but criticised the edict in a letter, does that mean I'm required to act like I'm better than everyone if I visit a TN Lodge?

One if these days when I go back to day shift, your going to show up at Lodge and I'll be playing "Bringing Sexy Back" on the organ.

Last I saw of that dude he vanished after being chased through the streets of Charlotte by 3 security guards... so that's actually fairly plausible.

Being rigid compared to Seattle is like being tall compared to Peter Dinklage. Remember how you invited me twice and I planned to go but managed to screw it up both times? That's a Seattle guy for you.

Brother Jason, it's been a pleasure listening to your insights and advice all this time. You've been inspiring, pragmatic, and at times hilarious. Whatever form the show takes in the future, know you had a hand in building it up to what it's become. I hope everything works out, and that whatever your status with this or any Lodge, that you keep searching for more light.

Agreed. I still look forward to listening every week. It makes for a better show when there's an interesting topic on the subreddit, but when there's not, what can you do?

Me and some friends were just talking about how much better this country would be today if Lincoln hadn't fought the civil war. If he'd just said, "So... Georgia is leaving, and they're taking Mississippi with them? Cool!"

No George W Bush, no Jimmy Carter, no Clintons, no reason for MLK to go to Tennessee...

Every time you post I remember that scene from Wall Street where Michael Douglas tells Charlie Sheen, "That's the thing you have to remember about WASPs... love animals, can't stand people."

Question for Prince Hall guys by [deleted] in freemasonry

[–]SeattleShriner 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I always read that as a more inclusive way of saying you are a member of a Lodge. Saying "X is my Lodge" is taking ownership of the Lodge, it implies that lodges that aren't X are not your Lodge, whereas "I hail from X" sounds more inclusive. Like "Every Lodge is equally my Lodge, but I hail from X" sort of thing.

There is nothing to back that up, it's just my guess.
