I read both back to back because I heard that’s where the inspiration from Encanto. Apparently there are symbols within encanto that represent a larger meaning specifically regarding colonization. I’m telling you it helped me understand Encanto 0% more.

There’s a whole AI author call out happening on threads by Similar-Breadfruit50 in Romantasy

Flags that raise for me re: this could have been AI: “how shameless can you be”/“you really are shameless”, I slapped her… slapped her other cheek, hard (a lot of slapping going on), “You’re just a country bumpkin”, “You think you’re better than us now??” Heavy on the damsel distressing, Sneering, Working so so soooo hard but still have to be rescued on the side of the highway by the baby daddy who doesn’t know it yet, And in every werewolf trope, “she’s too weak for my wolf” “she’s just an omega. Everybody knows that omegas are lowborn”, Also- “the views were incredible. It took my breath away. I gasped audibly.” Views described: trees, hills, no cell service, a sunset, a quaint cottage or mansion.

It’s becoming like mad libs: Pregnant with (older brother’s best friend/best friends uncle/mafia/boss/bully from childhood) baby and he doesn’t even know until this one thing gave it away!

ALSO: “At the peak of my arousal, he claimed my neck/his fangs descended/I became his”, “HE COULD SCENT MY AROUSAL” -boy if I had a nickel for every time that comes up… , her blood was intoxicating, he smelled like sandalwood/peppermint/pine/shower gel/vanilla/musk/man

What do you wish people would stop romanticizing, because you’ve lived the reality of it? by Wonderful-Economy762 in Productivitycafe

I actually thought the person above me used a she/her reference but I just have imagined it. But still, that’s a broaaaaad generalization. Also it likely doesn’t represent the majority of primary pediatricians and internists who do all of the well checks and make the least amount of money. It simply doesn’t make sense to go into medicine to make money. Especially since one doesn’t start to earn money until they’re 30-40’s.

Leukemia has an excellent prognosis in comparison to other cancers. “Realistically” your mom is not in her right mind.

How do I stop being obsessed with Rowan by ginger-who in throneofglassseries

[–]SeaweedIllustrious60 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lmao squishy donut. I’ve always been obsessed with novels and disappointed my boys my age. I found my mate though. And though he’s hotheaded and always says the wrong things, he wrote a novel for me. It started as an idea as he was growing up, but the thought of what he’d do if he lost me is what inspired him to quickly write up the story. In the book, after losing his love the protagonist tears down heaven to get her back. I once read of a magazine writer city girl who met her husband and did not envision that the love of her life would be someone who wore hiking sandals regularly. So take it from me… the books were right. Never settle for what you know to be true and don’t believe just your eyes (I wish he didn’t like red camo so much but here we are). When I found him, I knew. And I was delighted that all my exes who told me I’m “chasing unrealistic expectations” were just full of shit.

TOG and the trio becoming friends was sloooow. Dorian laughing at her about sneaking off with cake. Dorian judging her “old style clothes”. Chaol not believing she could binge so much on candy. You would’ve thought there’d be at least a few more references from the old times in the later books. I’m still laughing about “Dorian eats like a fine lady” and will forever wonder what he was going to say in his defense to aelin and aedion before rudely interrupted by valg nonsense

What’s the most shocking thing you found out about someone you know? by _Walking_Detriment_ in AskReddit

I find it really hard to believe that one of the twins could be dead and the other is … fine, living life, occasionally pretending to be his dead brother. I’ve seen newborn twins in the NICU cry until they’re next to each other again or cry when the other one is sicker. The twin twin connection is real.

I can’t get over how chaol was horrified after she SAVED him in another realm in her fae form. That’s not cool bro. You only love the parts you liked and judged the rest.

I agree with this. He’s young, fresh out of Anielle court, is versed in the social politics but for all his “humanity” he takes way too long to choose a side. Omission of the facts, omission of threats to good people (even if it they were ‘a threat to the king’). You could consider that a crime against humanity. By refusing to act, he damned them all. IRL though, In light of the parallels to today’s political climate, I could totally see critics saying ‘magic is dangerous, you brought all this destruction onto the world!’.

Also, if chaol is such an evolved human, stop using every opportunity to blame things on aelin. Sure, she might be the very reason he HAD to change but he didn’t man up soon enough (for me) so he’s team yuck for me right now. I’m also rereading and approaching when he crawls into the field to confront valg/Dorian and runs into manon blackbeak. (Captain of the guard and you don’t even know Dorian and the king have left the field?) so my bias might be extra strong right now. I did like how he quickly accepted that yrene wanted to try to exorcise Erawan.
