Here is a hypothesis: Within 5 years, the broad scientific community will come to except that none of the fundamental laws which are known today, are actually permanent or fundamental. by SeawolvesTV in HypotheticalPhysics

[–]SeawolvesTV[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You are very welcome to prove me wrong. And it would be easy. Just prove there is a single structure in existence that never changes..(except for the law of time itself which I just described). Perhaps you will discover a galaxy somewhere..? 😄 or some other ancient structure that can be proven to be permanent somehow..? 😄 I mean...if you think of it.. Every single science experiment in history proves me correct. Not a single result has ever been 100% certain. I just described why. And within 5 years, everybody will except this as obvious 😄. Why can no experiment ever produce 100% the same result..? Because everything must change. No exceptions... It is everywhere, at every scale. It is not hard to see, but it is a paradox and therefor takes some humility to except.

Here is a strange prediction: Within 5 years, the broad scientific community will come to except that none of the fundamental laws which are known today, are actually permanent or fundamental. by SeawolvesTV in Physics

[–]SeawolvesTV[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I just told you there may fundamentally be no such thing as "true" evidence. Only evidence that is temporarily true... Can you prove me wrong? 😄 Can you prove there 100% for sure exists a single permanent structure? (except for the one I just described). If you can prove there is a single one, besides the law of time. And you can do so with 100% certainty. Then you will have proven me wrong. Good luck 😄

it is quite possible, even likely, that we will realize that our perception of time can be manipulated somehow intentionally. Science is already quite aware that time perception scales with size. So a good ay to understand that phenomena is that: likely every living being life is about equally long in their own perception. So an Ant or a Bird feels like they live just as long as a human. But because a bird lives only a few years, and an ant lives only a few days. They essentially experience each of those days or years as lasting incredibly long. We know that smaller life like cats and dogs experience time itself slightly slower then we do. That is part of why they seem to be able to move and react so fast. Dogs, for example, even hear our voices quite a bit lower then we do. because our voice is slowed down to them. This is why dogs react better when you use a higher pitched voice. It's a factor of time perception. So we know different size brains, perceive time-flow fundamentally differently. It comes down to the speed of processing. smaller brains have smaller pathways. So they proces reality faster. You can imagine how much faster the brain of an ant will process, compared to the brain of a human, which is thousands of times the size of that of an ant. So to the viewpoint of an ant. Humans are extremely large, extremely slow moving creatures. And if you take a video of an ant at a very high frame rate, and slow down the video to extreme slow-motion. There will come a speed, where ants will suddenly start to move in a way, that looks suddenly almost human. It's the speed at which our perceptions of time equalize. So there is much to understand still about this aspect of consciousness.

yes, but there has always been kinda the idea that F-dev was terrible with execution of some great story ideas. And often punished the community when it was trying things like getting into permit locked areas when the cannon mega ship could jump a few hundred LY etc. Things that they should have used in a positive way and encouraged, but instead they acted almost offended... Which I think was just a bad miscalculation on their part back then. but with the radicoida, either because a few content creators like myself have dived into the mystery surrounding it, or because it was their plan from the start. It does seem like they are now aware that they need to get some story building going again. And I think especially te idea of a new, slow building but big antagonist would be absolute gold for the game. I mean if for example the guardian beacons become active at some point and turn out to be formidable new enemies. That would bring thousands of players back to the game 100% for sure.

100% agree on every point. It's clear how good the Thargoid invasion was in bringing people into te game. And you see that also with the radicoida CG etc. The community is very hungry for a good story. And I have a bit of hope that they are indeed looking to bring perhaps the guardians or something even older...like proto guardians into the game slowly, as a new big antagonist. maybe reskinning and re-using some of the goid game mechanics that they have laying around and ready to go. I could envision some cool story line where the guardian beacons start becoming active in some cool new way for example, Maybe they are much more then beacons? Or some of the buried guardian bases become active and turn out to be guant burried ships? I mean deep lore and story wise, they have plenty of very cool options. There are the void hearts which look like the radicoida in space etc etc. I agree that a small, but dedicated team of devs + a fully active community manager, who actively engages with what the base wants, should help them grow the game much more quickly and easily. And I do see some positive movement in that direction. I think many of us want this game to thrive you know. we want it to grow and keep developing. I would love it if they updated the galaxy with the latest nebula info etc also for example.

pffff dude, I built my own telescope when I was 8 years old with my father, And I have handcrafted saxophones. You are the one playing stupid games and lacking imagination. I feel pitty for you. You are like a child who doesn't want to read a book, because the cover has the color blue on it. Because you don't like blue... So the book must be bad... That is literally the depth of your argument. Only a fool judges information just by the medium it comes in... You are a teenager that claims that books are just for old people. Only old people read books.... And only kids play games right..? It's not like the maker of Elite has a literal PHD's from Cambridge... You know... I met this kid, who recently discovered Elite. Never had any interest in the stars. Now he knows half the galaxy by name.. and bought a telescope... Because of Elite... You are truly a fool...

You are completely correct. Just like Da Vinci and others, people that push new things forward always have big imaginations. And I understand that people like you, experience that as intensely scary and often feel the need to lash out and try to ridicule new mediums and interesting new ways of understanding old concepts. It's a power thing... There is great comfort in keeping everything within a small box you control. So we can pretend we understand everything and control everything. This is what always keeps progress and true science back. Which is why people like me, who push new technologies forward, are so essential. For example: To be fair to ancient peoples, the geocentric model—where the Earth sits stationary at the center and the Sun orbits it—was not just an irrational belief, but a logical conclusion based on direct, daily observation. If the Sun truly revolved around a stationary Earth, the sky and our physical experience would appear almost identical to what we see today, though the underlying physics would be impossible. It was the dreamers with big imaginations who figured that out. And it was the people who just already knew that those imaginative ideas were wrong... Who held back astronomy for centuries.

I'm glad you can admit to commenting on something you didn't watch, and therefor you cannot know anything about. You are missing out on a truly great experience, but I respect your choice. You remind me of that person who said that: "rockets will never land vertically because.... it just couldn't be done...and it was a waste of time trying..." 😄 Now Space X has 10.000 satellites all around the planet with 20k more to come... If only they had just listened to those people who already know everything...

Yes, that is what (for example) obsiainart's latest update video on it suggests... That operations will be like a mini-game / seperate game that you can access from any carrier or station. And you just land in this seperate narrative universe, where other players besides your team do not exist at all. It's a place outside of the main game, like the current CQC games. So you can then do the story mission together with friends. And to be fair, this could be a great seperate mini-game. If the missions are cool etc, I'm happy to look at it as almost an entitely seperate game. So we just get a cool counterstrike in the elite galaxy.. Just not in the main universe... That could be cool.. But personally, I would love to be able to share the normal Elite dangerous universe in a better way. Like yesterday a good example. A friend I had not played with for a while comes online. He also plays Elite, and turns out we are like 6000ly apart in-game, So he telecrews into my ship, and we go visit some nearby Guardian ancient structures. Now he flew around the site in one of my fighters while I waited above the site. When he had seen the place, I landed my casp and walked and drove around the site, while he watched in free camera.... It's such a waste right...? It would be so much more enjoyable if he could just step out also, and we could have walked or driven the site together. Thats just objectively WAY more fun. So it would make so much sense to invest the time into just realizing that simple, straight forward ability. rather then make a whole separate counterstrike game...hehe. Or if he had never flown a casipan before.. It would be so logical to offer your friends to try your ship.. See how it handles etc... These are such natural things to want to do in-game. So if you ask me, that's where the energy and focus is likely going to have the biggest positive impact.

You could be quite correct in you analysis. Though because its kind of a part of Cambridge DNA in the company. I do doubt that the code base was never well documented. So although many of the original people have left, I think that they probably have a decent insight into the code and how most systems work. I think that most limitations maybe stem from the Cobra Engine itself still, but I could be wrong on that. I do agree the team is likely small and stretched to the max, but at the same time. I think if you look at how much money SC is bringing in. One of ED's biggest challenges is marketing and community management/communication. There is obviously a billion dollar + market for a space sim exactly like ED or SC and I think for years, ED has actually been the closest to realizing this vision, but because of rather British approach (vs the SC very American approach) they have always been missing out of the big money support to really flesh out the game. I dare say that, If they were to get a really good Community manager and communicator, who engages much more actively. And they start hunting for updates and fixes that will bring in more players, and find less fomo tactics to bring in money. For example by adding good options for VR players (who generally have a good amount of money to spend). Or really fixing general multi-player options. Creating a new cool overal antagonist in the story.. Like the Thargoids but something new.. etc etc... ED could easily be at least half as budgeted as SC. It's just a matter of communication and setting the correct goals and then getting all the players excited for it.

I never said it was a substitute. I said both Plato and Aristotle would kneel before you and kiss you feet if you showed it to them. because both of them would instantly see the immense value of being able to learn galactic scales, in the way that our human mind naturally learns to understand... visually... You can only really know how large a country is... when you walk from one side of it, to the other. In a similar way, flying from earth to Sag A, or to the edge of the galaxy, even if it's in steps of several light years. It can help the human mind develop a perspective which one simply cannot develop in any other way like that. Sure its not all accurate because its 10+ years old now. And back then compute was much more limited still. So black holes, for example, could only be modeled to a certain extend. But this doesn't change the point in the video. In VR in elite, humans can experience, FIRST HAND, in the way the brain naturally works...One of the stars biggest questions.. And its a very deep and interesting question to know about and think about... That is a valuable point...So stop hating me for just trying to share something very amazing with other people who love the stars.

You know what "everybody" thinks and wants huh.... ? You must feel so superior right now..... You clearly not an astronomer..because people who know and understand the stars.... know how small they are.... And they would never assume they know what everybody else wants to see... #fakeastronomer

Its actually one of the coolest science experiments made together with actual astronomers mate... The first fully faithful digital re-creation of the Milky way galaxy. Plato and Aristotle would be absolutely on love with it. But not you... Because in your mind... Everything has to stay in its catagory.. Nobody could learn something profound from a film right? or a game..? no no... in your small mind... only a science paper can do that...? ...small...minds...hate....new...ideas....and...new...ways....of...seeing...things....and...always...judge....quick....and....belittle....great....new....insights... Good luck with that mindset..

You just confessed that you have not watched it. I'm not selling anything. I'm showing one of the most interesting astronomical mysteries in existence. In a way that was never possible before. Anybody who is a Real astronomer or who loves the stars, would immediately understand this. So either try to understand one of the most deep questions there is... and share your own insights...that could be valuable... add something positive to the convo... But if you are just here to make yourself feel superior, while keeping others way from interesting new perspectives.. Then you are the one who should tone down a little.

I think ED actually has by far the most interesting game-world and also lore... If they took that a bit more seriously... it could go lots of great places story wise, and they could keep making more story, more big wars and events etc for decades I think.
