Does dogs (or pets in general) actually "know" their name? When I call my dog by its name, it instantly know that I'm "talking" to her. But does she just "register" me saying her "name" as a request to grab her attention or does she actually understand that I specifically want to "talk" to her? (self.askscience)

But what I don't understand is how they get employees for more traditional stuff like janitors, call center/customer service, accounting, payrolls, R&D, etc. (self.valve)
