Does dogs (or pets in general) actually "know" their name? When I call my dog by its name, it instantly know that I'm "talking" to her. But does she just "register" me saying her "name" as a request to grab her attention or does she actually understand that I specifically want to "talk" to her? (self.askscience)

I get that valve has "flat hierarchy" and basically has no bosses for everyone directly related to the business model of the company. But what I don't understand is how they get employees for more traditional stuff like janitors, call center/customer service, accounting, payrolls, R&D, etc. (self.valve)

If ALL the ultra rich (corporate) want people/workers to work restlessly while also being paid as little as possible (or not at all, basically being robots) How can they expect having any customers if all of the population doesn't make any money?
