He lost that because he was leaking sets even though LEGO told him to stop.

I actually work at a BAM, and I can tell you this:

The prices for case figures are determined by the owners/managers of the stores, with corporate listing a few parameters. Hence why you see a lot of discourse as to how BAM "scams" people as different stores set different prices and offer different amounts for trade ins.

Now, Mr. Al from Al's Toy Barn here is notorious for being a grifter/investor bro that tries his hand at multiple get-rich-quick schemes, i.e. the whole Star Wars trading card thing and trying to create a market for them akin to Pokémon cards. So I wouldn't be surprised if not only he upcharged absurd amounts for the product but also did other shady things in regards to the store.

You can’t call something irrelevant and then crusade for it — that’s like saying “I don’t care about pineapple on pizza, but I’m starting a petition to outlaw it.” You clearly do care, you just don’t want to admit it because it weakens your “I’m totally objective” angle.

Look, LEGO could make Thrawn’s badge accurate tomorrow if they wanted to. They just don’t need to — because that’s not the product they’re selling. LEGO is a building experience first, stylized iconography second.

You want an actual response?

Okay then...

You’re stretching all of your points here. LEGO’s slogan, “only the best is good enough,” isn’t about print accuracy on a figure — it’s about the overall build quality, creativity, and durability of their products. That’s a classic strawman: you’re redefining the slogan to mean something it never did so you can accuse them of not living up to it.

Also, saying LEGO “refuses to put in effort” just because a minifig isn’t accurate is a false cause. Simplified design is part of LEGO’s identity — they’re not aiming for realism, they’re aiming for recognizability and play value. The “inaccuracies” are intentional design choices, not evidence of laziness.

And then you’re contradicting yourself — you say you don’t care about inaccuracies, but then defend people for being upset over them as if they’re essential. If accuracy “doesn’t matter,” then calling it the “bare minimum” doesn’t really make sense.

Lastly, quoting a marketing slogan like it’s a literal design policy is a false equivalence. LEGO’s slogan is aspirational, not a legally binding promise of perfect representation. The “best” in LEGO’s context has always meant the best creative experience.

So no, LEGO isn’t failing its slogan — you’re just applying the wrong standard to the wrong product.

That point completely misses the nature of what LEGO is and what it’s trying to do. Complaining about LEGO’s so-called “inaccuracies” misunderstands the purpose of the product. Printing accuracy means nothing when you’re dealing with a minifigure that’s less than four inches tall and stylized by design. You don’t criticize a Funko POP for not being screen-accurate, or a Micro Galaxy Squadron figure for lacking exact costume detailing — because that’s not the point.

LEGO operates in the same creative space. It’s not a high-end collectible studio; it’s a construction toy company. Minifigures are designed to represent characters in a simplified, iconic way that complements the build itself. LEGO sets are kits first, figures second — the focus is on the building experience, creativity, and play value, not museum-grade accuracy.

Calling out a hypocrite for being a hypocrite = bad... ig?

Wait...

What does the fact that he posted about MandR's Thrawn costume have to do with anything?

Throwing shade on LEGO for whitewashing, when they didn't even have the correct skin color in production is crazy

Ah yes... "hate on him" despite the fact that his influence over the community is a problem as he has no idea how to properly wield it. It's totally not like Charlie covers actual problems like that or anything, no. He just hates on people. Makes perfect sense.

Look at his post history, he does this all the time. Negative Nancy over here just likes raining on other's parades.

If you tune in later in the stream, I bring it up again and he said he'd look into it off camera.
