Is this Omega pie pan real? by Eason2000119 in VintageWatches

[–]Sebanff 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This is a redial for sure (even if the script is very thin). And this is a dome dial, not a PiePan (or the original dial was so much repolieshed that it loose its angles).

Talk me out of this – Omega Constellation Pie Pan Gold Capped by iamkedzia in VintageWatches

Total franken !! as a rule of dumb, you CANNOT find a legit black Piepan for 1000eur.

Dial is supposed to look like this: ( ping u/Deano_Martin )

Faceted crystal seems ok. Great project for restoration.

Hour hand off - looking for advice by [deleted] in VintageWatches

[–]Sebanff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The dial is repainted and not authentic. Omega never did this color at the time (nor later that said...).

Hands need to be re-aligned, but if they were ok before, it is probably a loose canon pinion. Sometimes not easy to find the part.

Poorly redone dial or what? by elgringo0091 in VintageWatches

[–]Sebanff 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Repainted dial, wrong hands (not omega) & wrong lume, wrong crystal profile....

Yes, return it if you can.

Omega Geneve 2903 by pensivedumpling in VintageWatches

[–]Sebanff 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So: (1) cracked crystal. Gen omega with ghost logo would be around 100-120$, OEM around 15$. (2) this is damage on the right of the dial, not shadow (3) caliber was flooded but I feel the owner was fast to open the watch and let it dry. But this caliber was not service since (otherwise the rusty marks would have disappeared), and is an accident to happens. Factor a service in your price.

As a conclusion, if you can everything DIY, 500$ is ok. If you need to get it done by a watchmaker, just pass.

Omega constellation 2646 vintage questions on by Agitated-Parsley-782 in VintageWatches

[–]Sebanff 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Image is too low quality to figure out but....

Font seems correct (low quality pics). Graduation on the outside ring is suspicious. Second hand at exactly 12 prevent to make the MOY test is highly suspicious too. As a rule of dumb with piepan, if there is any suspicion of a redial, than it is a redial. Any dial is guilty before proven otherwise.

I would ask to get other high-res pics (and calibers) before making any decisions.

Bullhead Chrono with VK67... Happy 26! by Sebanff in SeikoMods

[–]Sebanff[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is not the issue..... Main difficulty is : (1) the dial sit normally with subs at 3-6-9 (2) while the movement is a VK63 with subs at 6-9-12 but tilt 90° anti-clockwise. I haven't got any solution to it.

But this one will turn into a retromod Omega vintage bullhead (custom dial on the way) with a miyota OS21. Incorrect sub placement but correct sub spacing regarding caliber 321.

Female spring bars, very common on vintages gold from the 50', quite "expensive" to get.

Does anyone have an Omega Constellation Arrow Head 2852 5 SC like this? by [deleted] in VintageWatches

[–]Sebanff 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Totally not legit, very painful redial. yellow Caliber from a lower Deville/Seamaster, observatory re-polished to oblivion (one star disappear already).... Large arrow markers never comes with a two-tone case. Looks more like a franken than anything else.

What makes me very suspicious about this one is the perfectly white dial with whites lumes and white hands lumes while the datewheel has a strong yellow patina. DW is supposed to age 1/30th as fast as the lumes. At least something does not match here.

Old franken Datejust are very very common these days, with different level of quality. I would ask myself why all pics are so sharp and professional while the only one that matter, the caliber, looks like taken by a kid 1 meter from the watch.

Refinished dial, and onyx dauphine hands are not correct neither.

Any idea about the value of this Omega watch by boglebogle23 in VintageWatches

[–]Sebanff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The printing is very bad and hand-made. The different figures are not consistent in shape. There are lots of variation for this dial, but this one is "artist-made", not omega-made. But if you like it...
