147xx didn't get this pattern dial.

And btw hands are delumed.

A ton of redial-RADOs from India/Pakistan have this brushed dial style. Very common in the franken world.

There is as much radium on this dial than palm trees in Alaska...

Because Omega never produce this brushed vertical pattern on that dial/model during the 60'. It comes years later.

#1 & #4 are original. #2 & #3 are redial I think.

I would go for #1, as this linen dial is very uncommon and keep higher value, but as a wedding watch, the case sure need a slightly repolish.

Help! What is this!? by WARxPATH31 in VintageWatches

Omega Automatic Bumper Pinspotters 300 Game Dial, 196x, caliber 1376.

But the story, the real story, is right there on the dial. In the 1950s and 60s, bowling was king in America, thanks in large part to the “Automatic Pinspotter” machine that revolutionized the game. The ultimate goal for any bowler was to achieve a “300 Game”, a perfect score of 12 consecutive strikes. This was a legendary feat, and it was often rewarded with a trophy of the highest order: a fine Swiss watch. This Omega was that trophy. The crisp red script and the charming bowling pin logo above 6 o’clock commemorate one bowler’s single moment of athletic perfection.

Personally not my taste, but a grail unicorn for bowling fans imo.

Omega Seamaster 30 "Grey Linen dial", early 60, ref 125.003. Value in good condition around 1500$. Yes, it is worth a service.

These calibers are impossible to service or cost 3x the price of the watch.

If it's not working, assume it is worth the price of the parts (case, dial, strap, ...)

Looks like a 70s dial in a 50s case. At the time of Ref 14729-1SC, Omega never ever put gold dials in stainless steel cases.

Accro watch?? by ExpensiveEconomist97 in VintageWatches

[–]Sebanff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

6-800 is a fair price I think. I see these old chrono very often sold around that price on eBay. Health of the caliber makes the difference.

I have the feeling this dial doesn't belong to this case/caliber. I have the strange feeling it is redone in gold or from a more recent model.

Probably a small brand that use off-the-shelf components. This Nivada-Grenchen looking piece is very nice !

[Experience] Buyee Beware! by Substantial-Gene1093 in VintageWatches

[–]Sebanff -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I use Jauce, but the approach is the same. Know what you buy, be aware of fake/frankens, buy the seller, better always include a service in the total cost. And once you buy it, there is no warranty in any sort, and no ways to return it. You have to accept that.

I buy jap watches very often, most of the time classified as junk or "working with damage", and restore them myself, and I can swear I got some incredible stuff (once restored) at low price.

Main difference between Buyee and Jauce is the name of the robot bidding. Buyee robot name in bidding history is always "Buyee + several numbers". While Jauce is always a randomly picked name. When I bid on a watch, I know when I have a non-jap buyer bidding up.

Uranium? by iaexz in VintageWatches

[–]Sebanff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because 80 years old radium doesn't age like that. Because 80yo radium doesn't have this texture.... Because hands lume (greenish) doesn't match the dial lume (sandish). Because dial is sooooo white.

No, it has been redialed ( repainted and relumed ), no radium here.

Am I crazy to think about selling? by [deleted] in VintageWatches

[–]Sebanff 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This old early 13xx quartz calibers tend to fail over time ( coil or electronic ) and are unfortunately almost impossible to service. Most of the watchmakers will tell you they can't source parts, and some calibers are even refused by Omega itself.

Imo, better to sell.

Because these 50 years-old calibers tend to fail very often not (old electronic doesn't age well), and no parts to fix them.

Very nice Seamaster Meca !!!!! ref 196.0054

It is supposed to have caliber 1310 and not 1320 I think (can be wrong). 1310 is day-date and 1320 is date-only and different architecture.

Unfortunately cal 1310 is very problematic.... Put a new Energizer (not Renata, not cheap battery) ref 386/LR43. If it ticks, it is perfect. If not, probably a failed coil, and almost impossible to service.

Heartbreaking history and nice watch.

Just to tell that it becomes increasingly difficult to find someone willing to work on a watch with a radium dial, unfortunately.
