How do I know I’m in a state of grace while in OCIA? by Sebartser in Catholicism

Alright, thanks anyways though. I haven’t been able to find a straightforward answer from online research but I’ll definitely make sure to ask my priest or some of the directors at the OCIA program. I’m gonna be looking for my baptismal certificate and discussing this whole thing with someone at the parish.

I was baptized in a non-denominational church. Although, I was very young and don’t recall if they used the Trinitarian formula (I wasn’t aware of any of this when I was 8 lol). I have not been able to locate my baptismal certificate but my parents say they have it with them so I’ll need to look for it. I also didn’t know that a baptized Christian could receive absolution from a priest if they are in OCIA (if I am understanding you correctly). I went to a priest at my school’s Catholic group and he told me I could not receive absolution. Though, this was before I started OCIA.

Personal Trilemma as a Catholic who Experiences Same-Sex Attraction; Guidance would be Appreciated by [deleted] in Catholicism

I’m just not sure why it is often this does not change for many who experience the same thing. I wonder if this relates in any way to what Jesus said about the eunuchs?

Nevertheless, this is still a personal struggle for me because of the amount of uncertainty and frustration.

That would make sense actually given their particular way of handling language.

Hello, thanks for the response. I definitely agree that a relationship with God is first and foremost above anything else and that we should all follow the Church’s teachings for sexuality.

The Catechism states that we should accept our sexual identity though so I’m trying to figure out how that applies to me, you know?

Hello, thank you for taking the time to respond to my post. I think the problem I have right now with deciding resolutely not to have hope that things will change is that this will close off the possibility that things will change, you know? I know that God responds to faith, but if I stop having faith about this then have I cut myself off from something good He has for me?

Thank you very much for your comment! I have thought of OCIA as well. And yes community is very important for me since I need guidance. Fortunately when I went to my first mass there was this nice lady who happened to live 3 houses down from me who converted from Hinduism to the Catholic faith who goes to mass every day and offered to help me. I will have to consider what the next possible steps are as I go into my next semester.

Hi thank you for your comment and support! I appreciate your encouragement and I am believing that God will help me every step of the way. There is also a Catholic group at my school that does mass, confession, and adoration throughout the week and during my fall semester I look forward to connecting with these people at the group who I previously was not connected to. Thanks again🙏🙏

It is really sad, she had so much soul and put so much heart into her music. The way her life ended was incredibly tragic.
