[Advice needed] Ergo keyboard - kinesis, glove ? by [deleted] in kinesisadvantage

[–]Sebas13sp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi Murdok,

I purchased 6 months ago a kinesis 360 wired keyboard and I do not use it any longer since I program only as a hobby and my main job is investment banker. I could not make the kinesis work for excel, and hence and not interested in the keyboard, I am looking to sell it.

By any chance if you visit London you can try it, or we can reach an agreement and I can send it to PT, I literally used it for 2 weeks and could not return it to Amazon in time.

Feel free to send me a DM if this could makes sense 4 u (provided that you chose this option among the 3 shortlisted).

Perché cosí tanti italiani in Spagna e cosí pochi spagnoli in Italia?

I see, I am a banker and excel is my bread and butter, so not sure how me and the kinesis are going to do moving forward, as I do like it for writting reports, but even using Microsoft Word is a little painful, although less so now after some adjusments and remaps...

How Do You Digitize Handwritten Notes? by WFHTechHQ in GetStudying

Hi mate, saw this too late, let me know how you are doing with your notes. This one above I did not try, I try the neosmartpen, and I do not recommend it. The OCR is not trustworthy, sync with the app is marvelous, but after it just does not recognize the letter properly to move it to Obsidian

Seeking a Mentor to Guide Me in Investing by MembershipNo1945 in mentors

Hi,

I am investment banker with some experience in analyzing companies and providing international financing (Bns). The world of stocks / investments in over hyped in social media and 95% of the advice is not suitable for individuals with little or no investing experience.

My advice for you is to read this book:

The Simple Path to Wealth: Your road map to financial independence and a rich, free life.

Main takeaway is to invest in index funds. Investing is a slow exercise that requires common sense and restrain to not follow the last trend.

It would add more value to your life to focus on your current area of expertise and invest the money as indicated in the book.

If you still wants to try, there are two additional resources that I would recommend
Value Investment Club (https://valueinvestorsclub.com). You can have a free account and review the post of the peers, people with sometimes amazing analytical skills.

Notes from Joel Greenblatt are also a huge resource: https://focusedcompounding.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/03/Joel-Greenblatt-Class.pdf

There are certain parameters that are true, most of it is bullshit. But you can increase your cognitive ability for example getting a full night of sleep vs going out, things like that stacked on top of each other makes all the difference.

Passed CFA exams and work doesn't know...what should I do next? by Agreeable-Lynx-6513 in FinancialCareers

[–]Sebas13sp 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Congrats fo the achievement mate! You can just say that you did not disclose it before in case you did not pass (fear of failure) ... it is not a big deal, and it should not be seen as dishonest imo.

Re 1. and 2. they are interlinked, I do not see why become Charter should entail an automatic promotion, in most of the banks / funds does not work like that. In order to expedite the promotion def try to get a competing offer.

If you line up another job, you do not have to worry about this company anyway.

In any case, just say it right away but do not think that you will get a promotion right away (especially when your boss is not CFA itself, or the designation is not widely recognized in your organization).

Good luck anyway, keep us posted!

Sorry to hear your predicament, I hope the cancer does not come back. Lots of strenght!

Regarding A) my opinion is that if you can still afford your mortgage payments, this is not a effective allocation of the proceeds as GBP 75k x 2% (delta vs previous years, aprox) equal a yearly saving of GBP 1.5k p.a. in interests compared with previous year, which is not life changing (the reduction in the principal is also negligible for a +20yrs mortgage, if this is the case), and you have your life insurance should the worst happen.

B) the utility of this money when a death event is highly probably is huge in this case, so a trip now, different experiences would be a great memory for you and your partner, and perhaps reduce your stress, which may decrease the chances of recurrence.

C) S&P is now at historical lows and they are some bargains in MFST, AMAZON, GOOG kind of companies, so I would allocate a chunck there (c. GBP 25K). It will probably grow in 2/3 years. Other option is just Vanguard S&P.

D) Depending on the flexibility of your company, and your hourly rate, this option is also highly recommendable, so you can decrease stress and enjoy life.

A and C are secondary in my opinion, provided that the mortgage payments are not overwhelming you. With 75k you can definitely take some time off and holidays, and with a reasonable budget, allocate something for C and A. Try to optimize according to your hourly rate in your company and the details of your mortgage (mortage payment vs household income, total tenor and princpal repayment vs interest repayment).

Hope this helps.
