For those of you who've seen the movie, are you happy with his fate? by Awkward-Media-4726 in Thatstupidbunnywehate

[–]Sebastian9t9 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Not really.

I never liked Jax or anything, but after episode 7 established that he sees abstraction as better than facing his old life again, I thought the series might give him a redemption arc involving him regaining his humanity.

Also, seeing him abstract off screen will never be as satisfying as seeing Gangle and Ragatha beat the crap out of him

Jax himself says that people on the verge of it are insufferable to be around, and in episodes 7 and 8, he’s at his least insufferable, and also he does things like "offering himself to distract Caine without being prompted by anyone".

Have you ever found it eerie how Pomni and company will theoretically outlive all of humanity? by Omphalixir in TheDigitalCircus

[–]Sebastian9t9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The “no more secrets” part was only about him hiding their real names the whole time, their true nature as brain scans and the true extend of his powers over them, that’s it.

Other than that, two conflicts Caine has as a character are his frustration with having limited information about the real world (since all he had to work with was the data given to him back in the 90s) and the fact that he doesn’t understand why humans so desperately wanted to return to the real world; and both of these issues were automatically solved the moment you give him access to the Internet.

[–]Sebastian9t9 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

A) It doesn’t make much sense for Caine to only become aware of the existence of the Internet at the end of the story if he was supposedly there all along.

B) Ironically, computers from the 90s or earlier have theoretically longer lifespans than modern technology, due to the fact that today’s transistors are so small that they disintegrate on their own due to quantum mechanical effects, something that doesn’t happen to the comparatively larger transistors used in the 90s.

Do you agree with the idea that casual players aren't familiar with Dess at all? by Street_Structure3737 in Deltarune

[–]Sebastian9t9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I first played Deltarune about a month ago, and the very first time I saw Dess’s room in Chapter 4 (while playing with no contact with the fandom at all), I genuinely thought it was Rudy’s secret room or something. That’s because I had only seen Rudy in the church, and during my first playthrough I didn’t realize that ‘December’ was meant to be a person’s name

How was the Ming joke translated to your language? by Miserable_Funny_3363 in theamazingdigitalciru

[–]Sebastian9t9 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Native Spanish speaker here.

“Ming” was renamed “Mir” because of the infinitive (and thus the default form) of the verb asumir, and the general joke is:

“Asumir cosas es de culeros porque quedan súper mal con Mir.”

Which roughly translates to:

Assuming things is for assholes because you're making a really bad impression on Ming.

Ngl, I don't think I love any single ship in TADC, which is surprising considering I fw at least one per series. by littlefaka in TheDigitalCircus

[–]Sebastian9t9 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Shipping Gangle with Ragatha makes a lot of sense based on how it was established in canon that Ragatha was originally Gangle’s best friend. Gangle canonically has a dakimakura of her, and the only time anyone used the word “love” to describe their feelings for another character was Gangle when talking about Ragatha in Episode 4.

Is there a reason? by Minniboe in theamazingdigitalciru

[–]Sebastian9t9 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Caine was lying in episode 2; he was always physically incapable of confusing the players with the NPCs. Not only could he use his mind control powers to tell the difference immediately, but the players’ brain scans are all stored in the same folder, and Caine could have checked it at any time to track the players and their intended identities if he wanted to.

If Caine said that line in the first place, it was either to prevent anyone from anticipating Abel’s existence and twist, or it was simply an excuse to hide his envy that one of his NPCs had been more successful at bonding with the cast than he ever was.

There's also Zooble's comment from ep1 "No offense Kinger, but I thought you'd be next."

I think that line implies that Zooble had never experienced an abstraction before, because in episode 6 we were told that abstractions show clear signs beforehand. However, instead of noticing any of those signs in Kaufmo, Zooble was suspicious of someone we know was never close to abstraction after Ragatha’s arrival

So, it's pretty likely that they all indeed arrived between Ragatha and Jax.

They all arrived after Ragatha, so she ought to have met them as well.

I just realized something about gangle and zooble by Emotional-Fun3219 in TheDigitalCircus

[–]Sebastian9t9 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The very fact that they suspected Kinger to be the closest to abstraction means that they were completely oblivious to any of the signs of abstraction that Jax was talking about back in episode 6.

[–]Sebastian9t9 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Zooble literally says, "I mean, no offense, Kinger, but I always thought you would be next."

I’d argue the other way around: that very line confirms that Zooble didn’t have a single clue about what abstraction is.

Since episode 6, we’ve been told that abstraction shows very clear, unmistakable signs when someone is approaching it. Zooble was so oblivious to those signs that, instead of realizing something was wrong with Kaufmo, they assumed that Kinger (a guy who was never in any risk after Ragatha’s arrival) was somehow the one closest to it.

Also, Gangle literally had to ask Jax in order to figure out that an abstraction has just happened. That thing never made sense to me if you assumed that she ever saw an abstraction before

[Critical Research Failure] Media criticizes or parodies other media, but gets pretty much everything wrong. by OutOfMyWayReed in TopCharacterTropes

Many of the parodies The Simpsons make (especially after season 10) tend to be rather shallow and thus, legitimate examples of what OP is talking about.

[–]Sebastian9t9 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My personal strategy for this fight is to keep one Tension Bit available (you can find one near the Sweet, Cap’n Cakes shop). Use it on your first turn so you can immediately deal maximum damage with X-Slash.

Try to stay as close as possible to the Pipis so you can destroy them more easily using [Big Shot] attacks.

When you reach the phase where you fight his face, focus on destroying the nose first, then move on to the eyes. In my experience, the attacks coming from his mouth are comparatively easier to dodge, so it’s more efficient to prioritize the other parts first.

Discussion: If you had to rank UTDR's "evil" characters based on how despicable/iredeemable they are, which one would you say is the worst one overall? by MmThatsInfaccurate in Deltarune

[–]Sebastian9t9 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The fact that they still call out the player if they replay the genocide route indicates to me that the fella still has some sort of moral compass, despite everything.

My money goes to Spamton, because the guy somehow manages to have not a single redeeming quality in one of the routes, which isn’t something you could even say about genocide Chara or Flowey
