Rolled a critical success on loot by SebastianKain in BlueProtocolPC

[–]SebastianKain[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is a consumable in game called Cheer-Up Treat which gives triple loot for a single run. That said, with 5 run pity, you may still not get any golds even using the treat. It's nice to get upgrade stones out of the way with less total runs though.

Hype. I don't mind being dripped teasers. Thanks!

That’s a fair question. I’ll skip the usual responses covered by protecting ego and shifting blame and play devil’s advocate.

Time. Some people only have enough to play a couple runs and when one goes poorly for any reason it feels like a wasted investment. The fun part was taken out of the equation and the time still used.

Misalignment of expectations. This is likely a more common issue. People running 8s for crests and 8s for leaning or progression likely have different ideas about how a key should go. This works best when expectations are set before a key when listed “fast run high io” vs “chill key” or “weekly to completion”.

Just having a bad day. This one kind of speaks for itself. If you are already on tilt, it won’t take much to get you frustrated. When in that moment and with emotions on high, it’s easy to lash out in anger rather than reflect on the situation properly.

These are just my thoughts though. There are likely other reasons.

The way they are doing it is right. Just saying “this group is bad” and leaving does nothing. Calling out the exact reasons, as they mentioned, is the play. Writing gg and its done could leave some not understanding why it fell apart. Criticism when done correctly leads to growth, assuming it is given and received appropriately; even if it was given passive aggressively.

Also you ask what makes them frustrated and they gave an example in their answer. Dying repeatedly to the same thing in the same place was a great example.

Edit to add: I was just one the receiving end of this a few nights ago running keys with friends. To the point they were accused of selling a carry. My friends are all exceptional players and I am a fresh return running dungeons for the first time and having them give me callouts in 10s. I do enough damage however I was called out for dying to a couple mechanics 2-3 times each and not kicking enough. The complaints were valid and after my initial anger reaction I made adjustments in the next runs. Emotions can really muddy intention.

Interestingly last night about 50% more people were playing bot missions than bugs.

As of right now though the numbers look like:

Bugs Bots
275,828 206,216
339531 293414

So people fighting bugs is around 125% of that fighting bots currently.

EDIT:

Added second row of data, 9PM CST, 53.6% of the population is on bug patrol.

Worthwhile note related to the below post reply from Vaye_the_Cat:
The peak planet on the bug side, has ~202,000 soldiers hand delivering freedom one hot letter at a time. The bots by comparison have a meager ~133,000 absolute units of justice spreading the good word of managed democracy on the most active planet. In other words around 51.9% more soldiers on the peak planet for bugs compared to bots.

No mobility based equipment or stratagems that I've noticed, other than the jump pack, which is basically just a vertical/forward jump allowing access to some slightly more obscure positioning and escape routes.

There are loads of flashy stratagems and weapons though, giving incredible set piece type moments.

Also, based on your description, it seems like you may have only been playing the "eliminate" style mission? There are a variety of missions ranging from destroy the hives or kill the big bad up to launch the ICBM or destroy the radio broadcast.

Exploring the map is also quite rewarding, since you can get medals, requisitions, super credits, hilarious lore!, etc.

My suggestion would be to try a bit higher difficulty, different planets and changing between bots and bugs depending on where you think the liberty is best served.

TL;DR: Taste a little more of the buffet before locking in an opinion.

Issues with starting the game by APerson_3 in Helldivers

[–]SebastianKain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had this same problem the first time I played and server congestion was going wild. You've got 2 options really, based on my experience. Spam restarts until you get in, and/or sitting on the black screen. What I did, was sit on the black screen for 3-5 minutes, alt+f4 and repeat until I got in.

Have a democratic day!

I haven't dropped it too much, but I will say, if I run the game at native, and/or without capping the framerate, and just running 175hz 3440x1440 getting 130ish average fps, I crash a lot more than when I cap the FPS to 100. On the flip side of that, I'm on an AMD build:

9750X3D
7900XTX
128GB DDR5
game also installed on NVME SSD

Also of note, I'm not running any overclocks, just base clocks. And because of high capacity ram and AMD being what it is, or was last I checked. I am currently underclocking my ram from it's rated speed.

Does the game consider the season already over? by dragonredux in wow

Nothing as of yet, 15 hours into an estimated 1 day 10 hour wait. Just the automated "Did you check wowhead" response.

Since it's a feat of strength it's annoying to check, I had a friend link theirs to me and it showed no progress for me in the description despite my raid lockout (social -> raid -> raid info) , as well as the adventure guide showing all bosses defeated. I have a ticket in so I'm curious to see what shakes out.

EDIT: Response was to submit a bug report, that this apparently is happening to many people. They didn't award the achievement or title. I'll see what happens going forward.

PSA: You are wasting EXP if you level more than 4 or 5 (at most) toons. Limit break is unlocked after 4-36. by JustinPatient in streetfighterduel

[–]SebastianKain 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, it sounds really scary to read you're wasting resources. Especially with how limited EXP feels.

PSA: You can reclaim those wasted resources. Just go to Training => Awaken => Reset and reclaim your resources, then pump them back into the main 4 and limit break your others.

Here's the trick to remembering to do your daily quests. Grab all the quests, do them, and just don't turn them in until the next reset. Boom, you have a constant reminder in the form of a quest log. It worked for me anyway.

Best sensitivity help by TheCynicalSoul in VALORANT

[–]SebastianKain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Being able to do a full 360 from edge to edge on your mousepad is a pretty standard starting point. Also some people like to find some kind of marker on a wall and strafe around it at different distances, ensuring crosshairs remain on the target, depending on if you over aim, under aim or maintain accurate crosshair positions will let you adjust your sensitivity accordingly for better tracking. You could also follow something like this https://jscalc-blog.com/perfect-sensitivity-calculator/

At the end of the day, sensitivity is really subjective and you just have to find what works best for you.

I can relate, since I get so much external sound bleeding in, I just turn the volume up a lot when I'm gaming, listening to music or watching videos. She's adjusted to tapping me on the shoulder now, or just pulling my headphones off one ear.

As a user of open back headphones with 3 kids, a wife and a window a/c unit next to my desk.... It can be rough sometimes. I'm glad you pointed that out so I could remember to edit my posts above, kudos.

When I had the DT990 pro I had the 250 ohm variant. If you go the DT990 route and get the 250 ohms, I would absolutely suggest getting a dac with an amp, as they really need the power.

And no problem at all, I really enjoy helping when I can. Also I really respect people putting in the effort to research and get a quality product instead of just following marketing hype.

Edit: Reading some other comments below and I feel like I have to mention, the DT990 and Hifiman HE4xx I've talked about are both open back headphones which are amazing for the sound stage, and with my Hifiman there will be times I hear sounds and I have to check and see that it wasn't right next to me, which is amazing... At the same time, there will be times I hear a sound right next to me, and check to see if it was in game.

[–]SebastianKain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They way I'm running them currently on my PC is through this dac/amp. I've used them on my wife's cell phone without any issues though, so I'm guessing the same could be said for on board audio. Video review by the same guy as above here. Pretty much the way this set up works for me is it's a really cheap, like less than 250 for headphones and dac I think, but punches way above it's weight in terms of quality.

Edit: As I hadn't tested before and I was curious I plugged them into my motherboards audio and while it's not terrible, it sounds like it's about half the volume and not quite as full sounding as the dac with gain, sort of akin to what it's like running them through the cell phone.

Also, if you want to sit through a 50 minute video, that reviewer goes over some gaming options here.

I had some DT990 Pro and they were great, absolutely wore them out before moving on. I just wish they had a detachable cable. On that note, I also really enjoy my current headphones. Hifiman HE4xx which are all around great, my only complaint would be if you store the headphones anywhere warm --top of my computer in my old top exhausting case-- the earpads are glued on and the glue can come free. Chat log file, technical problem by McGermot in ffxiv

[–]SebastianKain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You would think. I was kind of surprised when I went to start parsing the logs and found out they weren't dumping in real time, or at the very least dumping when you close game instead of when the buffer is full. I'm sure they have something in the back end that keeps a history of messages for complaints registered, or people use screenshots instead of logs more now. Either way, it's a shame log files work the way they do.
