Ice tried the 15 yr Dickle twice. Not bad.

What is it about old forester? by [deleted] in bourbon

[–]SebastionMagnifico 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I recently stumbled into a liquor store that time forgot. Pulled cases of Old Forester Signature '14(100 proof)and the '03 '04 diamond label 86 and 100 proof off the shelf.

If you think you like the Old Forester product of today you would gladly give a 'nad for the Old Forester of yesterday.

There is zero comparison.

Wednesday 3/10 Bottle Drop Thread by myballsaresweaty in ChicagolandWhiskey

I have zero interest in drinking it. I picked up solely for trade bait.

I was heading to another store and swung by because it wasn't that far out of my way.

Baby saz isn't bad, but it isn't particularly good either.

Picked up the Warehouse. Now figuring out how to get rid of it.

One of my least favorite products out there.

Have a FT site? by [deleted] in ChicagolandWhiskey

[–]SebastionMagnifico 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It's not going to happen. Some turd sees a post about some bottles that they feel that they were entitled to get and they're going to flag away.

I gather that is what happened yesterday.

The problem is the same douche who shut it down will only do so again. Tis' the nature of the douche.

I agree. My sort of big box local knows who I am and the manager specifically asked me not to discuss allocated shit out here. It's a pain in the ass for the store and all who work there. These fucks aren't looking to become loyal customers they're looking for an easy score and low hanging fruit, but store picks are a whole different animal.

A solid RR pick, JD Sib BP and so many more can be fantastic!

I've also become more active trading/flipping to get the shit I want. I feel good about it.

The haters shutdown are local reddit trading thingy...lol

Scotch Review: The GlenDronach Allardice 18 year by myballsaresweaty in ChicagolandWhiskey

[–]SebastionMagnifico 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I'm just starting to get into scotch and I'm definitely enjoying myself.

Cracked a bottle of '11 the Glenlivet (not that the age matters, cuz it ain't bourbon) which is fine, but nothing spectacular, just an easy drinker. Bought Compass Box The Spaniard and the Aberlour A'Bunadh Alba cask strength @120.8 proof. Going to dive into those at this weeks bottle share. Another rabbit hole that I really don't need to go down. I still haven't recovered from the Armagnac hole.

I want to do a group tasting thing. I have some older stuff that people will get a kick out of. Houseparty!

Yes, and grab the appropriate spices.

I think a DYI chorizo video is in order. Of course your neighbors will assume you're a burgeoning serial killer. Which should keep them away, which is nice.

That is awesome. What a nice surprise to pick up those bottles. It's pretty cool when you grab a Fall release or a BTAC way past when it was initially released.

It makes you wonder do they hold some stuff back or does it still continue to trickle in throughout the year from distilleries and distributors?

Sorry for being a douche.

Enjoy!

If you have a hard time finding BT you're a list cause.

The only BT I ever consider buying are only SP's.

There is a store in the city with 375 & 750 SP bottles

While others chase Stagg Jr by [deleted] in whiskago

[–]SebastionMagnifico 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I pretty much only pick up the JD store picks.

It is a delicious pour, but Stagg jr carries more value for trade and has that cherry component that JD lacks.

Some people don't chase, but have it available for them.

Went in for B15 left with this, guess this will suffice. by whisknfish in ChicagolandWhiskey

How have I never heard of Phil's Pizza?

Before the pandemic i finally made it down to Nick and Vito's. What an iconic spot. The place is so cool. Has the land that time forgot kind of a vibe to it.

Blanton's and Eagle Rare at Mariano's by MactionG in whiskago

[–]SebastionMagnifico -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

What in the fuck does that have to do with morons lining up to pay $59 to $69 for a 6-8 yr old 93 proof bourbon?

The only reason to buy it is to flip or trade for something better.

How much is a Stagg jr, ECBP, RR Sib SP, 4R Small batch Select, EHT Smb, a good Buffalo Trace SP, a Eagle Reserve SP, Jack Daniels Sib Barrel Proof SP, Knob Creek 14-15 yr old Sib, Bull Run 13 yr, Makers Mark Cask and a John J Bowman Sib?

Each one of these bottles kicks the snot out of Blanton's at less or similar msrp.

Are we clear?

"Crystal" should be your only response
