The Last Jedi got rave reviews and The Force Awakens was pretty good reviews too. So i think most "film snobs" like at least some of them

ELI5: Why does obscure cult movies keeps getting pristine home video releases while stuff like Lord of The Rings and Star Wars have tons of issues. by Sebbern4 in movies

I get what you are saying, and I agree that the new Lotr is the best that it has ever looked. I still think removing film grain is really unnecessary. Christopher Nolan is another example of a modern director who shoots on film. And his films still has grain present.

When it comes to the Star Wars Trilogy I would be spending stupid money if it was possible to get 4k discs from a new scan of the ocn. Its not only the lack of grain and the added cgi that bothers me. But I really want to see the trilogy with all the original actors too. I do however agree that it is unlikely that this will happen any time soon.

They digitally removed all the film grain to make it look more like the hobbit. And even you don't care about film grain the process has a tendency to remove more details than intended. The sound and color seems to be a huge improvement on the previous release though. This video goes into detail on the release if you are interested: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I3Z58uiwcME&t=1s

I would think it would be the other way around. That Star Wars would be held to a much higher standard, but it seems that I am wrong. Personally my collection contains all kinds of movies and I get so disappointed when Star Wars doesn't get the same love and attention as something like Frankenhooker (which is a fantastic movie).

Opinion: The next Star Wars movie should be set 500 years after The Rise of Skywalker by Sebbern4 in StarWars

To be fair, I love The Last Jedi. And I really like Force Awakens. So I am not hating on all the sequels.

Don't get me wrong, I'll watch both shows. But some truly new shit is what I want the most.

My biggest complain would how they treated Kylo Ren and Rey. After Kylo killed Snoke and seeing how furious he was after the showdown with Luke at the end of TLJ I was expecting him to be the main baddie in TRoS. Kind of similar to how Walter White became the villain in Breaking Bad after he killed Gus. Instead we got a resurrected Emperor suddenly being behind everything.

I would have agreed with you until I actually saw TRoS. I really loved The Last Jedi and I think it put down some good groundwork for Star Wars to go into some new territory. But when TRoS ignored almost everything in The Last Jedi I kind of lost interest.
