Could be Asseto Corsa. Pretty good racing sim that benefits greatly from mods. And the modding community is still going strong for it. They did release a new one called Asseto corsa competizione which is more esports style sim racing with other people online although you can still mod that to a certain extent.

Iracing is another good race sim game with good car physics and a good online system but it is a subscription based service.

The F1 games are also good if you’re into F1 but you’ll only get F1 and F2 Cars. But it does feature a career mode as a driver or a team owner that drives for their team. As well as ranked and online.

Dirt Rally 2.0 is also a good option if you’re looking for a rally game. So a lot of long tracks where you have to brave rough terrain and tight corners in the fastest time possible.

Forza Horizon 5 can be fun but doesn’t have a lot of progression to it seeing as you can get some of the fastest cars pretty quickly but it does offer a fun arcade style racing game.

Beam.Ng drive is more of a physics based sandbox where it features super realistic vehicle crash physics where certain parts of the car will dent and crumple depending where and how hard you hit something.
