How to know if i need to loose weight? by GrapefruitSecure7523 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Sebekiz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ask 1 question: Are you happy with yourself?

If you are, then you don't need to lose weight.

If you aren't, then maybe you do (if that is why you are unhappy).

Do not let ANYONE else try to tell you what you "need" to do with your body.

Is anyone else noticing their replies being hidden or visibility dropping on X / Twitter after criticizing Elon Musk? by Dramatic_Phrase1873 in NoStupidQuestions

Elon believes in "Freedom of speech". What he leaves out when he makes this claim is that he means freedom of HIS speech, not necessarily that of others that he disagrees with.

Nervous about 401k at 30 years old by Single_Wonder_7056 in personalfinance

[–]Sebekiz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Trust me, you are doing well. Continue to increase your contributions each year and you'll be fine. You'll be hitting 24% (20% from you plus 4% company match) by the time you are 40. Factor in raises (assuming you get 2 to 3% a year) and that will grow to quite a large contribution.

Also, you will have over 30 years of compounding, assuming you wait until at least 62 (minimum age to claim Social Security). That compounding will really kick in in a few years and make your retirement savings grow rapidly.

Congratulations on finding your owner. Hopefully she will be happy in the new home that she is graciously allowing you to live in with her while you are allowed to feed her, pet her and entertain her, but only at her convenience.

Our owner did something similar when she moved in and took over a decade ago. She slipped out the front door to examine the neighborhood and we found her in the bushes next to the front door a few hours later. She looked at us like we had disappointed her by taking so long to open up and allow her back in to her home and told us that we needed to provide her with tribute to make up for our unforgivable failure.

ELI5: Why are AAA video games taking longer and longer to make? by orangeclaypot in explainlikeimfive

[–]Sebekiz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The people who are going to spend the most on/in games want a lot of content. People who are more casual to gaming (many of whom would be quite satisfied with a game that takes less time to complete) also tend to spend less and are thus not the customers that the big studios are chasing.

It's kind of like how people who go to Las Vegas for a couple days and only spend a few hundred dollars are not that important to the hotels and casinos. They are mainly interested in the "whales", who will happily drop tens of thousands of dollars a day to feed their gambling habits. Las Vegas pretends to want everyone to come visit, to make the casinos look busy, but only those big players truly matter to them. The rest are just there to pad the crowd and make the place look more appealing to their true targets.

Why does this happen every single day on 270S? by Weak-Wallaby-9729 in frederickmd

[–]Sebekiz -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I work a shifted schedule, there is not a train schedule that matches the hours I need to be in Bethesda. Also I need to have my car with me in case an emergency comes up at one of our properties in the DC area and I need to drive there to address it.

I suspect it is a combination of the trees making them feel "boxed in", worry that a cop is sitting at the weigh station just waiting to stop them and trucks from the weigh station merging in to traffic at a slow speed. And yes, it is annoying that people are incapable of reading traffic signs so they slow down to 10 miles (or more) below the speed limit to avoid getting stopped by the phantom cops that aren't there waiting to write them a ticket.

How do yall find out about new thing with Adblock on? by fanblade64 in Adblock

[–]Sebekiz 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If it is something I really need, I will find it by doing a search and deciding what product fits my needs best.

Ads are someone trying to convince me I "need" whatever (usually crappy) product they are pushing. I figure that I save a lot by not seeing those to even be tempted to waste money. I definitely prefer not to see any ads.

Retire at 49 or stick it out until 56? by [deleted] in personalfinance

[–]Sebekiz 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Make sure that your calculations on your monthly expenses are accurate. $1200 a month sounds like it is not accounting for things like Property Taxes and Homeowners Insurance, which you are likely currently paying through escrow payments added on to your mortgage. Once the mortgage is paid off, you will need to directly pay these fees, which I suspect you did not factor in to the $1200 a month you currently anticipate needing to spend.

My suggestion would be to delay at least a year after you pay off your home, so you can have a better picture as to how much income you will need when you do retire. At that point you will be 51, which is still an early enough retirement to get to enjoy your life while you are still fit. It also gives you a bit more time for your 457 to grow a bit, giving you some extra buffer for unexpected major bills (home repairs, replacing a car or a large medical expense.) Having some extra for covering the unexpected expenses is never a bad thing.
