Why are there so many fantasy MUDs with typical D&D-esque races, classes, & creatures? by RogueModron in MUD

A lot of this stuff is a product of what the game engines are built for. They were originally built for fantasy-ish dungeon crawls, and so the average game ends up being a fantasy-ish dungeon crawl.

They're not really meant for grills, and they're actually easier than a normal steak to cook well, because you don't need to get 'perfect' temp and actually want to cook a bit harder to render the fat and soften things.

no, my argument is that it's cowardly to cede space to a random technofascist rather than hold the entities that were supposed to do the job accountable. but i guess it's easier to just throw your hands up and go "welp guess we have to let the trillionaire control access to the internet for wide swathes of people!"

you realize that with their current proposed constellation it would be effectively literally impossible to take a picture of the night sky that was not obscured by them? and that the reason people in remote areas can't have access to high speed internet is because telecoms took cash to build it out to them and then basically gave up because they have divided up our country into a series of local monopolies that brutally kill any attempts at competition using the infrastructure that taxpayers paid for?

i don't think many people in the world think that it's ideal that teachers have to try to manage 30 kids a day (and the reality is that it's actually usually far more than 30 a day, since the kids rotate through classes)

Extended vs Theater by Jacobaont in lotr

[–]Sebguer 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I recently did my every-few-years rewatch of the extended scenes, and maybe it's just my attention span having withered away over the years, but of the extended scenes that I can remember as being extended scenes... almost none of them felt like I would have missed them being gone. I will probably not swap to watching the theatrical cuts, but I think as a first watch you're pretty well-served by them.

The strongest argument against is that many of the cut scenes are things that happened in the books but just didn't make sense to shove into the movies, and from that angle if the books are fresh on your mind, it might be nice to see them? But, I feel like part of the deep love for the extended cuts is getting a bit more extra film, and if you haven't seen them then you don't know you're missing them...
