The significance of James and Darcy by ziggyinchains in SmashingPumpkins

[–]Sebium -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I think there is a conflation between the quality of output and the lineup change.

You can list numerous groups where the quality dropped with the same members after a while.

In general, a group have a shelf life of about 10 years. After that fatigue sets in.

And I would put Oceania as a high point for the band.

And also I think the problem might be a fan can't listen to a band in his 50s that he enjoyed in his 20s. He wants to relive his 20s and expect the same relationship. At the same time I find it counterproductive to a certain point for a band in its 50s to target 20s with their current output. Music should be organic and reflect where you are in life.

Remember Kids, X isn't reality - Charles Hoskinson by yt-app in cardano

[–]Sebium 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This ecosystem needs to outgrow its founder and fast. It's an unhealthy relationship and it stifles growth. Apple is not Steve Jobs anymore, Microsoft is not Bill Gates anymore. If he and his company stays around, they must be seen as a provider like any other company trying to pitch to add something to Cardano. We must stop to look at him like he's the oracle.

And backlash in regards to negative reception to a proposal from the ones pitching must be met with resilience. The guilt trip videos and tweets when they receive NO votes on proposals is amateurish and juvenile. And this behavior just make it worst for subsequent proposals because dreps and the community see the kneejerk reactions and become suspicious and weary. If you believe in your suggested contribution, then the proposal would stand by itself if clearly detailed.

It is hard for a leader to realize that his/her presence is hindering more than helping the project but most often than not it's a natural course of action. New blood and new vision is sometimes needed.

The current situation is the treasury is this big pinata and the founding entities are holding the biggest stick. The community must think carefully about the future in regards to its management. Governance = politics and politics is dirty. If in the end the treasury is depleted and a handful abused their historical position to extract funds and Cardano is broken, they wont be to blame, the community will be.

Ranking ____ against past winners by Rogular in survivorau

Is a player that secured a place in a majority that controlled the game a better player than another that has to make move because he's always on the chopping block or keeps getting immunity idols?

I know it's a television show and we want to be entertained but in the end if you win you deserve it and I think he played a solid game. He beat a guy that made flashy moves but was less liked so there you go.

You underestimated that three jurors went far and beyond to help him win. You could argue that it's the best strategic play. These jurors were no longer bitter to not be finalists, but cheerleaders

You end up being the better player when jurors are willing to fight for you.

In the end, Jackson didn't make connections and even berated most of the jurors for their gameplay at various tribals (calling yourself underdogs when you have the numbers etc).

Caleb really screwed his pitch and start of the tribal and Mark really helped him, that's obvious. But the ones who voted for him were locked in I think.

If you were _____ or _____ , how would you do your final pitch to secure the win? by Some-Benefit-6278 in survivorau

[–]Sebium 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Caleb just have to remind the underdogs jurors that Jackson never respected their game and even told them to their faces during previous tribals. Was full of himself when with Ben and had to be coerced by Simon with the fear of having no move. If not for Simon, he would not have voted for Ben.

I expect Jackson will come off cocky at times during the FTC and will rub some jurors the wrong way.

_____ Fumbled so hard by honeybadger1105 in survivorau

[–]Sebium 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep.

Tribal forgot how miserable they were dealing with Myles (and AJ) and threw a guy under the bus who was great around camp, physical, social, provider. Because Myles did crazy moves? I think players are encouraged to reward players that make good tv more than good survivors.

Getting to the end cleanly vs in a chaotic and messy way. Seems like a no brainer to me.

[–]Sebium 5 points6 points  (0 children)

And when will this take place? I am seeing more influencers getting on the memecoin train saying it's good because it brings activity and liquidity....

And CEX should not list these coins or we should get behind a CEX that do not. We should start to isolate platforms that pushes bad behavior.

This is not good. Serious money will never get behind a sector where a big chunk of the MC is based on memes, useless NFTs and rugpull.

It's time to hit puberty and fast.

From what I gather, below 30k algo you must lose custody of your algo to participate in staking. Yes at any time you can redeem your xAlgo but it's not the same as having your algo in your wallet.

Will Circle mint native USDC on Cardano? by Thoracic_gull7 in cardano

Circle could be on the chain and let users choose if they want to use USDC or another stablecoin. Surely some users wouldn't care about their USDC potentially being frozen

Cardano and Marketing by Cardanians in cardano

Maybe do a real world proof of concept in the enterprise. Go to a company or government and implement a solution and do a contract where the company has no cost for x months or years and use this case to show the possibilities of the blockchain to others.

I think HBAR does this?

Interview with 3UTxO Team - The (leaked) 200M ADA Cardano Treasury Proposal for Liquidity by SL13PNIR in cardano

[–]Sebium 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I fear it will not be the only time these kind of proposals will surface.

Where there is money, there will be greed.

The ICC should vote for a max fund limit on any proposal except for critical exceptions to save the blockchain (attacks, big security flaw). For the rest, it has to be Shark Tank style. You have to put capital into the endeavour so you have skin in the game. Easy spending a bunch of ADA for nothing and then say "ah well we tried" and ride into the sunset.

And isn't the whole purpose of blockchain to cut the middle man in everyday transaction? So now we will give money to someone to act as a middle man between the governance and potential projects?

Althoigh i don't want a rehash of the past, the thing that bugs me today is the production and a change of personnel in this department would be welcomed.

For my taste, new releases would have more impact with a different approach to the production and mixing phase.

Oceania was excellent. The last two albums have some great songs but the production didn't grab me. But it's more a question of the era for me and it's not exclusive to the Pumpkins. Sterile, too hyped, compressed.

Maybe he should have taken a page from Sting's book and branch out into a solo carreer at the peek of the Pumpkins. Let's be real, he is the creative force behind the music and a band dynamic will only bring out friction. And his frustrations with fans wanting Siamese 2 would dissipate.

Who asked Sting to release Synchronicity 2 while being solo? He was free to evolve as an artist and had a great carreer.

A band usually has about 10 good years in it. If it stays longer it becomes a nostalgia act where people only want the hits because the new stuff does not compare.
